Good review! Just want to make a correction… off grid Solar doesn’t cost $100k. Not even close. It is definitely expensive. I live off grid. I’ve been designing and installing systems for about 14 years. I’ve been teaching workshops since 2010. My point is I have lots of experience in this field. Systems are expensive but most of the offgrid systems we install run about $30k for a home. Cool stove has to be gas (propane or NG). Same with hot water heater. Dryer too if you need one. However fridge, freezer, water pump, lights, electronics and small appliances in addition to a washing machine are no problem to run on the systems we design and install. Sorry to correct you I just don’t like misinformation. And we are bombarded with it. Blessing brother.

I witness the Montreal ice storm, it put the whole grid on the ground. That’s when I bought a 5000 W generator and store 50 gallons of gas during the winter.

I bought a generator after an ice storm knocked out the electricity for four days on Christmas eve. Never again, I raged. I had an electrician put in a special circuit into my electrical panel so the generator can power my entire home. I still have a couple of solar generators as backup or to keep the freezer and fridge working, or for heat.

You cannot run a dryer off or that unit as it does not provide 220 volts that a home dryer requires.

Also AP you missed 1 important part you can buy an off brand reliance transfer switch and get it installed by an electrician which allows you to essentially run your whole house as it will auto switch to opus power if the grid were to go down basically like as if you never had an outage. Its also cheapest on market only 321 bucks for transfer switch with the mega 3 or even mega 5 and 25 dollars for the cord you will need. Of course this don't include installation by an electrician which is usually a few hundred bucks.

The 30A socket on that unit at first glance looks like a 240VAC supply port but it is only 120VAC. It is industry electrical rules that require that style of socket when you are going to be drawing that much current on a 120VAC circuit. The socket that would supply power to a dryer or stove would have 4 "holes", 2 for hot, 1 neutral, and 1 ground. If you have a small dryer that runs on 120VAC with a 1500W element like a hair dryer, then you can use your solar generator but the runtime available for a high current device would be limited. 🙂

I would love to see a vid that covers the mega3 paired with a oupes additional battery and their portable solar cells, particularly how all the panels are wired and if the array will recharge both the mega3 and the external battery at the same time while being connected, and also determining if the mega3 combines both the megas battery with the external battery when you need to power your house or if they are independant from one another. The oupes manual dosent give specifics on any of that and dosent even show polarities on their solar panel wiring to the system.

I use insulin too. It can be put in a ziploc into a cooler of ice, any size. That's how I take it canping.addendum: I keep it from direct contact with ice using a rack or tray above the ice and other food.

That machine looks rather impressive TBH and looks more cost effective then the modular system that my bluetti has which is why i went for it over a year ago over opus because until now they didn't have this kind of expansion capability that the system i use does.
