Tbh the sens really broke themselves after that 2017 playoff run, HOPEFULLY with ullmark we see some success but hell I’d be happy if we js went to the second round or a round 1 game 7. They have so much young talent but giroux is the only player with a decorated history
@ethanparker79003 ай бұрын
pretty crazy by how they came literally a goal short from the final that year and they have missed the playoffs every year since even in 2020 with the expanded format. Ofc losing Karlsson yes was major blow and eventually guys like Andersen and Ryan but those depth players like Viktor Stalberg and Tommy Wingels their departures surely left big holes

Bringing a new team smack dab between Montreal and Toronto was risky, as Ottawa used to be divided between Habs and Make Beliefs fans. I'm proud to say that a few decades later, the city of Ottawa is now still divided between fans of Habs and Toronto.

It is in a way but the sens fandom is slowly climbing. A lot of leaf/habs fans here are mostly influenced by their family from the Toronto/Montreal region. The senators are a hockey town but they just need a Stanley cup so we could finally at least have our fandom strong again like the Redblacks did with their grey cup run (living up to the rough riders)

How can they become the biggest joke in the NHL? Since joining they had a Stanley Cup playoff appearance and Conference finals. Since 1992, some teams in the NHL that have been in the league longer and should have had already a well established team didn't even get that much. But the NHL changed the way the NHL entry draft is done after teams mostly got 3 line players and AHL defensemen.

It always makes me laugh when people call the Sens' picking Daigle a failure. There isn't a single team at that draft that would've picked anyone else with the first overall pick. Just like there's not a single team that would've picked anyone else than Yakupov in 2012. If Daigle had had better support from the organization he would've had a better career. The guy had so much talent but he was treated like a superstar right away and was badly developped because the team wanted to market him out instead of focusing on building a team the right way. Don't forget that Daigle had 327 points in 616 games including many games playing on a third line after he left Ottawa. There are plenty of players who have had lengthy careers with less production. If he would've played for a better built team like the Nordiques, the Red Wings or the Blackhawks I am certain he would've thrived. Now let's talk about the expansion draft itself. The 92 ED was the worst because every team could protect two goalies as well as 15 players with rookies exempted. That means each team could protect their top two goalies, their top 9 forwards and their top 5 defensemen. Ottawa and Tampa Bay ended up taking way longer than the 93 expansion teams because that year they could only protect one goalie which makes a huge freaking difference. Just go look at the expansion draft results for 92 and you'll see there is literally not a single quality player involved. No quality goalie wants to go play for an expansion team and everybody knows goaltending is the most important aspect of the game. Trading for a quality goaltender should've been their priority.

Brady wore #12? Unlike King Cheater in New England (and Tampa Bay) in the NFL, Ottawa scored a tying goal against Boston in their inaugural season, only to get penalized for 'Too Many Men'. The replay showed what looked like TEN MEN on the ice!!

We broke the Sens Duchene broke them and Dallas fans I know you think he’s a hero but he’s gonna tear the Stars apart. Duchene was trashy player for leaving us and we finished dead last in 2016-17 and he was a locker room cancer got rid of him and we won a cup four Years later and made the playoffs the year we traded Duchene. He broke the Blue Jackets and Sens, broke the Preds who haven’t won a series since 2018 and got swept in 2022. So I mean cmon now Stars are gonna collapse this season and I can’t wait

Out of playoff teams shouldn't be so close to the cap. Bad cap management plus wasting first round picks on recent trades has been a issue in the past few years. Arena location and a poor team, doesn't inspire the casual fan to pay big ticket prices to attend games.

@alfiesmullet13113 ай бұрын
@BarrGC it's not a bad spot, would certainly be better than the current location... but it would be more ideal for it to be closer to an LRT station.. I think Lebreton, Bayview or the DnD building across from city hall are the best options
@BarrGC3 ай бұрын
@@alfiesmullet1311 There's a station connected by a pedestrian walkway, right there, the Tremblay road one. Not to mention a real train station, with trains that actually function consistently during hockey season, lol. Most importantly of all though the queensway itself, which is the biggest problem with Lebreton and which the majority of game night fans would be using. Having game night VIA packages from Montreal & back would be a huge bonus, Toronto too
@alfiesmullet13113 ай бұрын
@BarrGC true.. I forgot about that walkway... I still think downtown is better though.. it's made for a lot of cars to get in and out of and has dozens of big office buildings with big underground parking lots that are all empty after 6pm and a short walk from either location.. a lot of people drive to games at the CTC cause it's in the middle of nowhere but a lot more people would be able to take public transit or just walk to the games from their homes of office if it's downtown... plus there's a lot more stuff to do there before and after the game
@BarrGC3 ай бұрын
@@alfiesmullet1311 Ok, fair enough, but no, downtown Ottawa was not made for alot of cars to get out of. It happens daily, which, granted, which is why Ottawa has some of the worst traffic for a city of it's size. Almost all major arena are located in a spot directly adjacent to a major thoroughfare, the Gardiner in Toronto, 136 in Mtl, MacLeod trail in Calgary, etc. Yes, more walkup traffic for sure, but still, 10,000 people trying to leave Lebreton in cars at the same time will make for a nightmare I would never be willing to put myself through, lol
