After watching an assortment of temp6t videos like this, it occurs to me this could have been what Gym Battles were like: not just trainers with strong pokemon that require you to hit some arbitrary level range (or simply slap with the appropriate element) to bulldoze through, but unique challenges/puzzles that teach you more about the range of possibilities in the game outside of "hit the enemy pokemon with the hardest opposing element move you have."

well, instant dynamax would have made it easier. After entrainment he would either have to switch out the dynamax afer 1 turn or keep it and have only 1 shot left. Which would land in protect, not killing dugtrio. This allows dugtrio to safely set up and dynamax agaisnt lucario. Nothing else could outspeed or take a hit (without sash)

Well you see; Temp's Durant used a cheeky strategy called 'entrainment,' which swaps the ability's of the two Pokemon on the field. So he essentially stole your infernape's blaze for his truant, causing your infernape to skip every other turn. It's cheeky, but completely legal. t- someone who knows almost nothing about Pokemon but was able to read the battle log and looked it up.

Here's a tip: whenever you see entertainment has been used on you, switch out, arena trap doesn't activate until dugtrio is on the field. This goes for skillswap as well unless your in doubles. Think shadow tag gothitelle in this case kill that thing as soon as possible then switch.

Honestly, the dude had one chance to swap out thanks to Durant’s Focus Sash. Entrainment Truant should have been a massive red flag. I suffered from this strat once and now I basically prepare to immediately swap out when I see my opponent had a Durant on their team as Entrainment Truant is probably the only reason why anyone uses this thing on Showdown.

I've learned not to mess with a Dugtrio on Gen 1 and Gen 3 because of that. I always use my Starter as my initial Pokemon in order to deal with those kind of threats.
