I'm a big fan, Dele. I anxiously await these postings from you on Sunday mornings over here in the US. I just picked up your 2 books: Imperatives of the Nigerian Revolution and Do Not Die in Their War: A treatise on Nigerian's contemporary political trajectories. I have no doubt these will be good reads. Please continue to educate our people and continue to tell them the truth. These efforts will not be in vain. Take care.

DELE GOOD MORNING, I AM JUST A LAY PERSON NOT WITH THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF EDUCATION ALL YOU HAVE SAID ABOUT NIGERIA YEARS BACK IS TRUE, I THINK WE GREW UP SAME TIME IN NIGERIA, I GREW UP IN A SMALL TOWN IN THE EAST. I KNOW NIGERIA HAS GONE TO ALMOST BEYOND REPAIR. I STRONGLY BELIEVE IT A DELIBERATE EFFORT BY ALL IN POWER TO MAKE SURE NIGERIA DOES NOT WORK. STEALING OF COMMON WEALTH IS EASIER FOR THEM WHEN THE ENVIRONMENT IS AMBIGUOUS AND ROWDY IN THE NAME OF ONE NIGERIA HOW ABOUT STATES OR REGIONS ARE GIVEN AUTONOMY MOST ESPECIALLY IN POLICING AND POWER GENERATION. I AM NOT A FAN OF ONE NIGERIA BUT I WOULD NOT MIND LIVING IN ANY PART OF NIGERIA THAT WILL PROVIDE ME THE BASIC NEEDS OF LIFE AND PROTECTION

Big bros. I always set aside time to listen to your analysis of issues of the state and people of Nigeria. You remind me of one of my uncles who coincidentally bears similar semblance with your phenotype and ethos, relocated to Canada many years back after he could not make sense of the wickedness the state metes out to its citizens. This buttresses how longstanding the malevolence of the state has been and the increasing frustration and despondency it leaves its citizens in its wake. Suffice it to say that all I hear from you is akin to a de javu as my uncle vomited same things wholesale and migrated thereafter when he felt he could no longer stomach it. To you Sir, and to anyone who clings to a teeny weeny hope of redemption, I am sorry I have not too pleasant news. NIGERIA IS HOPELESSLY IRREDEEMABLE.

Thank you so much sir for your choice of words in defining and description of the state of the nation. Well my little observation is in the area of power and roads, for them if they fix our roads and power there won't be any thing left for the politicians for their next campaign promises to the people, that's how i see it in this area. Have a nice weekend sir
@jkbzz8 ай бұрын
Fully developed countries such as China, the EU and the United States are still building roads and expanding + maintaining their power grid till date. Infact it is ALOT easier to build a road or power infrastructure than to maintain it over its lifetime. My point is there will always be things to do but our demented political class prefer we remain in the same spot even as the rest of the world continue to progress massively. If this continues as is, I can assure you soon enough, we will still be caught and sold into slavery (some may argue that we are slaves anyway).

Listening to Brother Dele Farotimi is something I love doing, I listen to him all the time, Dele being a Nigerian makes me know there's still hope for Nigeria, one day we shall get it right in our leadership, and Nigeria shall be considered a nation for once, right now, Nigeria isn't a nation, was never, has never been, was never meant to be a nation, Nigeria is a make believe!! The reason God put the likes of Dele Farotimi in Nigeria was to give hope to Nigerian people, to be a voice for the voiceless. I pray daily to God to forgive us our sins and have mercy on us. Nigerians sleep and wake up with pain, wondering when shall this pain be over. Thank you brother Dele for being a voice to the voiceless🙏

Good morning, Uncle Dele. It is not far fetched; the Nigeria problem is more systemic than leadership. In every sphere of our economic life, the stench of corruption is so contagious that it seems an aberration to consider a just path. However, we have to be resolute, disciplined, courageous and resilient in dealing with this monster, praying that GOD helps us prevail.

Thank you for saying it the way you understand it. If Nigeria was a company that was acquired by the British Royal, people that found themselves within the Nigeria space should not expect anything more than what they are getting at the moment, which has been sustained over the years. If the primary purpose of a state is to protect lives and properties of the citizens, I as an Igbo person will tell you that Nigeria is not a state for the Igbos. because, Nigeria has k1lled millions of Igbos unjustified. Nigeria has destroyed properties of the Igbos worth millions unjustified. Nigeria seized goods worth millions belonging to the Igbos. Nigeria militarized Igbo land and through the various check points, Nigeria military, police and other security agencies are extorting, intimidating, humiliating, subjugating and k1lling the Igbos. Nigeria has continued to marginalize the Igbos. By every sense of reason, no Igbo man see himself as a citizen of nigeria. just as Nigeria does not count Igbos as equal citizens. What has not worked for over sixty years of trial, will never work even if the trial is sustained for one hundred years. In my opinion, the establishers of the company did not establish the company for the interest of the people but they established it for their own interest.

My mum said - and it's not his fault o with all that is happening... and this feeling of pity engulfed me, I was like if only she knew how the deliberate actions of leadership is making her work twice as hard in order to be modestly successful but can't blame her, the ignorance is sponsored by the leadership, after all, some people believe it's people who don't want the government to succeed that's sabotaging the government's efforts and government is helpless

It should not be beyond the capacity of Nigeria to have solid infrastructure when there is exceptional human capital to labor on road projects, water, gas, electricity etc. Nigeria is modern but underdeveloped. For example, you can find many individuals driving a 2024 range rover but it is being driven on a road unfit for walking. You can find houses with the finest and latest architecture, designs etc but no connected electricity, water or gas. Clearly, it is done by design. China lifted 800 million people out of extreme poverty in 40 years......

@IfiokAkpan-yz7fm8 ай бұрын
I am not an advocate of democracy in Nigeria. But to have a working Nigeria for everyone, we must eliminate paying security votes to the state governors, stop sending monthly federal allotments to the states and local government officials, stop paying constituency development funds to senators, and then, we figure out how to develop Nigeria, every corner of it, without these thieves who parade as politicians having access to public funds.

Personally, i believe that the Nigerian state uses these tools of control for two reasons. First , a liberated,educated and empowered nigerian becomes a threat to the state. He might feel that he is above everyone including the state and this posses a risk to the authority of the state and may cause anarchy. this brings me to the next reason , the nigerian state is incapable of thinking up new tools of control for an enlightened and successful Nigerian citizenry so it works with the model that it currently has which is poverty, religion etc.

To me the simple solution of Nigeria is dissolving the union because us together can't work because we don't share one ideology or Worldview which is required for a group of people to become a nation, and only when you have a nation can you find patriots ready to die for it, and patriots become active citizens because they have a sense of ownership of their nation unlike nigeria today no ethnic group owns, and patriots produce good leaders ready to plan for the betterment of the now and the next Generation. A geographic expression like nigeria can never birth significant number of true patriots enough to steer the country positively. A French is a French, an American is American despite multiple tribes it formulated one ideology for itself which is Eurocentric Greco-Roman ideology by its founding fathers. And nigerian founding fathers lord lugard and his team never formulated an ideology for it so its doomed to fail and the independent seekers never tried to because non was ready to bury theirs for the other and no leader in Nigeria will seek that no matter how many times we restructure or change constitution as long mothers and fathers still raise their kids as yorubas, igbos, etc with its culture and heritage and not as Nigerian you can never have a significant number of patriots that can steer the country positive because a Chinese is raised as a Chinese, a Japanese as Japanese but a Nigerian is raised as a fulani, yoruba, igbo etc.
