Reading the last issue was really hard. The last story arc was so rushed, but that final issue was so damn good. I felt like my adolescence was ending as I saw the end of Michonne, Eugene, Carl/Sophia, etc. So many good times spent reading about, watching, theorizing about those characters. Seeing them all find peace and bring the world back together was really special and I don't think I'll ever forget it. Great video!

Honestly, I think Robert was kind of done with the comic and just wanted to move on. This is why things just felt a tad rushed after the whisperers. I cant blame him after years of writing the same story. You are bound to eventually see there is nowhere else you can take the plot and thus you might as well end it on your terms.

This was so well done! Really loved how you used the editing to make things come alive. I have never read The Walking Dead but definitely got tired of what felt like nihilism in the show. Glad to see the comics seemed to eventually have a more hopeful look at humanity.

I remember reading the last issue and seeing the drastic way Carl changed throughout the story. We’ve seen him scared, angry, happy, etc… and yet the part that made the ending seem so worth it was the way he held his daughter and read her the story he wrote about her grandfather. There’s no fear. There’s no hatred. It’s just a father passing knowledge down to his daughter who will live in a better world thanks to what he and others went through. Because of what his father went through.

I was a big fan of TWD from about 7th grade to the middle of high school. I read the comics until the end but I gave up on the show during season 8 when they dragged on the all out war storyline and killed Carl. I was a purist and I felt like it was blasphemy that they strayed from the books so much because Carl growing up was one of my favorite things about the later part of the series. Recently I decided to go back and rewatch TWD from season 1 to 11 now that it ended. I suffered through seasons 7 and 8, and then I wasn't expecting much from s9 because the whisperers storyline wasn't my favorite in the comics, and I knew they were going to "kill off" Rick which I was preemptively upset by but... oh boy! Just the first episode of season 9 was better than all of seasons 7 and 8 and season 9 as a whole is probably my favorite TWD season! I don't know if this is an uncommon opinion among fans but I felt like Rick got some of his best writing and character work in season 9 and even though it was sad to see him go, I thought they handled it well, and it made the show truly an ensemble cast. Letting go of the idea that the show HAD to be a 1:1 reflection of the book completely changed my experience and now I'm 21 experiencing a complete revival of my appreciation for the series.

Carl was never going to work out in the long run, simply because they couldn't stop Chandler Riggs from aging. His stuff with Negan didn't work, because he was so much older. Him blowing the Saviors away with the automatic rifle and getting knocked back, crying and Negan feeling so bad when he asked to touch his eye socket, singing "my only sunshine." Riggs was almost an adult by then, so it was just awkward.

Hello friend, I am a person who does not speak English, I use Google translator. I loved the video because, I went through the same thing, I started reading the comic when I was 10 years old, when the series premiered. And really when I opened the video, I thought it would be a criticism of how the series was ruined over time, since with each volume after the total war, Kirkman could not develop, he did not know what else to do and doing the math we lost about 2 or 3 years with the whisperer. And really when I opened the video, I thought it would be a criticism of how the series was ruined over time, since with each volume after the total war, Kirkman could not develop, he did not know what else to do and doing the math we lost about 2 or 3 years with the whisperer.See how beta died, how he wanted to develop the last volumes, it was seen that Kirkman no longer knew what to do, he decided to finish it and not take a break.I saw your video and cried, it really was a catharsis since this series of comics meant a lot in my life and seeing the ugly way it ended was painful, seeing how you met the series, seeing how you grew and seeing how new entertainment arrived, it also happened to me,In Spanish there are not and there will be no videos on the subject and thanks to your video, I can overcome twd, I can overcome the trauma that this series left behind, I can detach myself, thanks for that, thanks for the video, I keep saying I don't know English, use the translator

I think one thing the comic achieved over the TV adaptation was the sense of crushing loneliness in the post apocalypse. There are so many panels depicting characters walking through backwoods trails or shreds of civilization with nothing but snarling walkers to keep them company. Without a word of dialogue, you understand just how far their lives have fallen.

I find it funny how people say that comics like The Walking Dead are TOO violent or graphic or whatever, when it’s no where near as bad as it could be. Most of the gore looks cartoony just due to the unique art style, and even some of the stuff shown like sexual assault is pretty tame. American comics are extremely tame compared to the east. It’s very obvious that most Americans don’t read manga but just to understand that TWD could’ve been way more adult, go take a look a Junji Itos horror mangas or the manga Gantz. If anyone thinks twd is adult after those then idk what else to say.

Growing up reading this story, it was sad to see it stray so far from its source material. Like many properties that meet their end, it was franchised and milked for profit. Many won’t know the potential the series as the comic’s story had brilliant scope and its pace never missing a beat, it really is one of a kind. I hope it sees a return in form of an animated series adaptation faithful to its source material in the same vain as invincible or an anime like AOT or One Piece. It’s so brilliant but the mediocre TV adaptation that started off good and took a left turn is what people pay the most attention to. If only it went to HBO and not AMC…
