I’m Australia we call Cold Chisel a pub rock band, they are just so good and unique most of the world have never heard of them yet they gave us decades of incredible music. They tried in the states but were rejected by the record labels because they didn’t bend over. A few other great songs of theirs is “bow river” “flame trees” “khe sanh” “wild thing”

Thanks heaps for the great reaction. Cold Chisel are an amazing band with not one but two lead singers. First one playing the guitar is Ian Moss and second lead singer Jimmy Barnes. Every Cold Chisel song is unique and all the songs sound different. I would recommend Cold Chisel “bow river” live 2003 from this same concert

I saw it as a really messed up vet, probably has a ton of PTSD from what he saw and went through in the war and he’s coming back home to the last place he felt like a normal person, where he felt free of all the extra baggage he now carries. He’s scared to see how this new beginning is going to go. Just like him, the people at home have changed too while he was gone, simply because of their particular journey. It is a very moving, emotional song that I’m sure resonates with so many who returned from war. It actually breaks my heart. The vocalist was very very good. He pulled us into the story he was telling. I’m sure I will revisit this song often. Thanks for the post.

Cold Chisel always puts on a great show. Absolute legends with so many iconic songs from the 80s in particular.

Aussie here the general understanding is this is about a relationship, so not literal war.

Love both these singers Mossy and Barnsey they are incredible. Another great Aussie band is Noiseworks - Touch. Look this one up the offical video got such great sound and amazing lead singer Jon Stevens

Jimmy Barnes is a phenomenal singer. Anything by cold chisel or Jimmy Barnes (solo career) is great. Cold chisel are thought to be best Australian band even ahead of AC/DC and INXS Jimmy singing “a change is gonna come” is epic and cold chisel singing “wild thing” is also great ❤

have you heard Patti LaBelle's version A Change Gonna Come

Thank you for your very good reaction. I’m glad you chose this rendition; their best concert imo, one where they had got the band back together after a good while and it worked out so well - you’ll find a lot of good performances there. Take care.❤

This is such a great classic and iconic Aussie song by cold chisel. Personally I think John Farnham did the best version of this song, he sang it on many occasions live but the version from the last time concert with John was the best, so much power, passion and emotion he put into it was incredible.

I disagree. I like the nontraditional structure of this song and the way it builds as it progresses. The Farnham version loses that.

If you haven’t since, it’s a good idea to listen to the album version of this song. The live performance is something of a reinterpretation, a little stripped back, production-wise. It’s fantastic, but probably better if you’re familiar with the original, which I would consider an Australian rock classic.

Carole, sounds like you need to cut back on everything involving the videos you do. If I dont get a reply or a video requested, there are no hard feelings. I just assume you didnt want to or couldnt for whatever reason. Maybe next time lol. I'm still gonna watch! Ya gotta try and take care of yourself young lady!!
