I mean, Madhouse statistically completes most anime the do. However, they've had a few really major ones where the production committee wasn't willing to pay them for a second season (like how the committee for OPM wanted to be cheap about S2 and so Madhouse told them to eat dirt). Really, all the blame should go to those committees for cancelling the series because they were cheapskates. Luckily, Toei is pretty good at never cancelling anything they can squeeze another penny out of, so we can expect them to get Madhouse on for S2.

A detail about the food commercials you got wrong: All of the food they show is actually real food. It's illegal for them to show anything that is inedible, *however* they do in fact use a lot of tricks and sneaky stuff to make the food look as good as possible. I mean, we just inherited from German, where ttrpgs are just "pen and paper spielen" (pen and paper games) or "pen and paper rollerspielen" (pen and paper role games). Because having more terms that you can use to describe something is always good, especially if you didn't already have a specific term for it. We didn't have a good term for portal fantasy where there's limited connection between the two worlds and where the "normal" world doesn't really feature much, so it makes sense to take one wholesale.

I was curious and looked at one of the chapters (without having read any of the previous chapters) and just found myself laughing at some cells arguing about "defending their lady from a foreign body" (embryo) where some freaking maids were standing up for the embryo. Sure, source material is more than enough available, even the author gave a statement, that he doesn't know exactly why 'no game no life' gets no further seasons For this title, someone told me, that madhouse doesn't have the courage for another season, because they are afraid that they might ruin it. The first season was "too good", so the expectations for season 2 are incredibly high, so before ruining it under stress and pressure, its easier to just not do it. But no guarantee on this info

​@@lunalasmith8351tbf Madhouse wasn't the one to cancel most of their incomplete shows (they've actually made a lot of second seasons for stuff), it's pretty much always the committee's who hired Madhouse who cancel, usually because they don't want to pay for Madhouse quality (basically, Madhouse actually has a minimum salary they'll animate for, and the people in charge of funding the anime, who know that they'll get a good ROI aren't willing to part with more than a few percent of that figure). Toei, who are the ones in charge of Freiren's committee, are notoriously willing to squeeze every yen they can out of an IP, even if it means paying what Madhouse will want for S2. Quite frankly they'd probably find a way to stretch a single chapter into 12 eps if they thought it'd make them even a single percent more profit... They're also largely responsible for creating the commitee system that turned being an animator in Japan into a living nightmare, but that also makes them responsible for making the anime industry able to produce all your favourite shows so make of that what you will.

You know what'd be really funny? If they make a second season in a few years, and the artstyle of every character other than Frieren has changed, together with their voice actors, because the original "actors" got too old in the time between "filming" the first and second season, so they had to cast new ones, but Frieren is still the same. Would be a weird kind of meta humour, but I think it'd be hillarious. Or maybe even just one "OVA" Episode, that gets aired before the real first Episode of the second season, just to mess with people.

The point of promotional pictures is to show what's IN the burgers. only an idiot would assume that fast food is going to look like the photos. You're not paying for looks, just the taste. And you're right about them using different things. For example, for the photos on ice-cream tubs etc, they actually use mashed potato, because it can handle the bright, hot studio lights.

I'd say the IGN image is kind of well-thought-out on multiple points, due to the article apparently being about how the word "doesn't mean what you may think". On the one hand, I've seen some popular KZbinrs using "Isekai" for just about any big fantasy story, including ones that are 100% set in their single fantasy world, who thus would indeed call it "Isekai". On the other hand, technically the world just means "other world" and thus would refer to any story with a setting clearly and entirely separated from our own. So it could be "A lot of you think it just means fantasy like this", or it could be "A lot of you think it means summoned to a fantasy world, but technically it includes this".

It's not just fake, it's also photoshopped in a bunch of ways. Food image manipulation has an entire class in some art schools. The important part is not to change the actual image but all of the setting around it. You make it brighter, alter the contrast, add texture alpha channels, etc. All sorts of niggling little details like that without touching the base layer to enhance the already fake and too good to be true thing they took a picture of.
