I been working horses for over 30 years too. Yet here I am, learning better ways. We never stop learning!

As you said, horses are stressed not by pressure itself, but by not knowing the answer to relieve that pressure. When they don't know the right answer to your question (because they're green), then the stress this uncertainty causes will manifest itself in behavior like fidgeting, pushing on you etc. Teach them the right answers and the unwanted behaviours will go away

Your covered arena is great. Good it's open to all the distractions of daily activity. Gutters should help. You have a wonderful facility! You're an excellent teacher for horse and human!💋

A very green mare but she seems to catch on after she thinks about it. Glad her owners brought her to you! So much handling was missing....Glad you are getting gutters installed....you need as much of your arena dry as you can get! Her head going down might be an avoidance move....?

Have you done (or would you do) a video on getting a horse to life feet (especially rear ones) for the farrier?
@timandersonhorsetraining Жыл бұрын
I have done a couple on picking up feet. Some with young horses and some with older horses. Probably easier to find it on my KZbin channel.

Hi Tim! This is a silly question but what are the main objectives of asking a horse to follow their nose? Can you please explain what you are developing in her when you ask her to follow her nose, please? She's doing really well. She's a quick learner! thank you!
