I'm Salvadorean and I've never seen a deer, even in the national parks. So what happened to you is like seeing a unicorn. It's sad but such a rare event.

The guys at the car rental place also said they have never seen a deer. In Canada we have to be very careful when driving on country roads not to hit deers.

There were like 0.000001% chances of hitting a wild deer 🦌 in El Salvador 🇸🇻. You were that 0.000001% 😢

Deers are more of a common sight now, because they have destroyed their natural habitat so they have gotten near the cities. There are many of them near the place at work, by where the offices of AVIANCA are located.

Let's not worry, the deer will be nicely cooked and/or grilled. Here in El Salvador food does not go to waste.

Did you get your money back?
@TeamSauceTravels3 ай бұрын
We did! Turns out not taking the additional insurance was the best thing to do. The credit card refunded us 100% of the money we had to pay and it was pretty straightforward. Had we paid the rental company for the additional insurance, we would have had a 1500$ deductible. So out 1500$ and the credit card won’t refund anything in that case.

The central beaches have world class waves for surfing (they host 3 or 4 world championships from March-July) but are rocky. For beautiful beaches without rocks you need to go east or west of La Libertad.

We were there during the world championships but only found out about it the morning we left. Unfortunately, we didn't see it.
