Thanks for sharing your story. It's wonderful to hear someone speaking Taishan.

Thank you for this video. I'm an ABC born in the early 1960s. I'm really pleasantly surprised to find online how many ABC millennials are keeping some of the early dialects of US Chinatowns alive. I had heard that Hoisan hua was fading away and decided to take up Mando about 12 years back thinking I might need to use it if I visited the East and West coasts. I've come to find out that Taishanese is still spoken in some areas here and there, especially in San Francisco. It seemed like I'd always revert back to Standard Cantonese or the Hoisan dialect. In my case, I tend to speak the Hoiping or Kaiping version like my dad back in the day. Anyway, keep up the good work! hoh yeah! oo dei nei!

Thanks for watching! 🥰 I know Boston’s Chinatown has been shrinking from gentrification. San Francisco’s Chinatown seems to be a lot more lively.

Too funny. Just yesterday, I walked into the kitchen to feel sticky spots all over. My 8-year old fessed up that her not-yet-frozen popsicle had leaked and she tried to clean it up. I ended up trying to show her how to mop (using a Rubbermaid-like-swiffer thingy), but ended up cleaning it myself. The I came across this video. 😂

Hahaha I had lots of incidents when my stuff spilled in the freezer, which is probably harder to clean. 😅

Thank you for making these! It's helpful to hear taishanese outside home, (esp things that don't involve food lol) love listening to the stories too :)
