7:25 I guess the train 🚂 is used as a metaphor, can be symbolised as like train is moving continuously (symbolised) and the work in present continuous is also in progress (continuation). I guess 🤔 that may make sense

hi dylane, at 5:46 you say "se faire faire les ongles"? why is faire repeated twice? Thank you so much for the helpful video.
@TheperfectfrenchwithDylane3 жыл бұрын
When there is only one - se faire les ongles - that means that you are doing your nails yourself. When there are two - se faire faire les ongles - that means that you are getting it done by someone else. Se faire faire les ongles, un massage, une coloration, etc. I hope it helps :)

Another great lesson ! Just for interest . To have something " in train " is a common english expression If a process or event is "in train or has been set in train", it is happening or starting to happen. I wonder if the English stole it from French or vice versa !!

De and À are with the verbs before the infinitive. You should check out the lesson before this one if you struggle with the subject 😉

Love working through your book but can you explain to me why on Ex.10.6 no 2 the faire agrees with the 3rd person ie se fait payer but in no 3 the faire does not, the answer being se faire entendre. The same thing happens is 7,8 and 10.
@TheperfectfrenchwithDylane Жыл бұрын
Sorry Lorraine, I thought I answered you already. It's because the reflexive pronoun agrees with the subject. Je vais me faire couper les cheveux - Elle va se faire couper les cheveux. I am going to check the book this week and see if I should add more explanations :)
@lorraineleaver9336 Жыл бұрын
@@TheperfectfrenchwithDylane thank you. I realised the me te se agreed with the je tu il but didn't catch on to the fact that the faire after the reflexive pronoun had to be written in full ie faire rather than fais or fait. Thank you for taking the time to answer me.

Hey Dylane, great lesson! xx I have a doubt. ''Faire attendre qqn- to make somebody waiting''. To my understanding, it is specifically for living beings since there is 'qqn' and you have mentioned 'somebody' in the meaning as well. However, in the example it is- ''They kept the bus waiting'', and here 'bus' wouldn't be used for 'qqn'. So is this expression used for both qqn and qqch? I am sorry, I am just confused and want some clarity. Thank you for your time x
@TheperfectfrenchwithDylane3 жыл бұрын
Roshni this is a great catch! And here is the explanation that I should have included. Attendre quelqu'un can also be used for transportation and things that are being brought to you. From what I read, it comes from the fact that someone is driving the bus or bringing the package for example. Attendre le bus, l'avion, le train, le taxi, ... Attendre le courrier, la livraison, la confirmation, etc. So basically, if someone is "behind" what you are waiting for, it works as well. I guess nowadays it also works for transportation without drivers since a lot of them are driverless. I hope it helps 🙂
