When it comes to clothes.. IE pants shirts, I'm a cheap walmart of jeans. Shirts 100% of the time it's either short sleeve t-shirts or long sleeve depending on the weather. Helmets I've used $150 to what I'm wearing now which is in the $450 range. For jackets when I first started had to have that leather jacket, and I think I've worn it once. It was just to bulky and was uncomfortable, so I switched to the textile jackets. Have three, two are similar only difference is length and the other is a lite upper 60s type wearer. All 3 of the textile jackets came with fake pads in them and I ripped them out and threw them in the trash. I need to be comfortable and not overheated.

Well yeah, everyone needs that leather jacket. I have one that I got on clearance. The leather jackets are definitely bulky and also heavy. Textile jackets are a lot lighter and with liners in them, are great in cooler temps.

It has been a while! We've been very busy. Was glad to find the time to edit this video. I think it was for Father's Day that I got a portable tire inflator from lexin. The other one I had needed to be plugged into the bike to operate.

With so many styles of riding gear, I have been picking the style, buying something on the cheaper side, then upgrading in a couple years. I had been wearing 3/4 helmets and decided to try a modular. Bought a HJC i91. It isn’t bad and the quality is decent for the price point. I just couldn’t bring myself to paying $500 to $600 on a style of helmet that I had never ridden in. I did pay a lot of money for a half helmet for short commutes to town and back when it is hot. I know the risk I’m taking so to give me the best chance I could get, I paid the money for the best one I could find. As for jacket, I wanted to try a 3/4 length textile. I bought an off brand from Iron Pony. The lack of quality shows but I like that style for cold weather riding. I plan on upgrading to a better one soon. I’ve been experimenting with mesh jacket and summer gloves as well. I did have a desire for a new leather jacket. I dug an old one out of my closet and decided a new one wasn’t needed. The old one is well seasoned lol.

You are right. There are so many choices of gear out there. That's one thing I've never tried, a modular helmet. Everyone I know who's wore one loves it. Iron Pony is a great place to shop for gear. It takes us a couple of hours to get there but worth it every once in a while. Yeah, those leather jackets seam to last for many years.

I buy gear generally when it's nearly worn out due to I can't afford more than one set. Ah your a good man buying Mrs Den whatever bike gear she likes. Nice green gloves she has 🧤. Cool orange & black flanny u have too. I think I'd stick to my mesh jacket in summer. Due to the cost of living these days I always go for price first on gear and then comfort and then hope it's got some protection too. I guess anythings better than nothing on a low budget. However I always spend money on a descent fullface carbon fibre helmet that fits well & works with glasses. I also do like good boots that protect your ankles as was dumb in my early years riding with just sandshoes or short ugg boots and broke my ankles seriously. So allways now ride with boots that go nearly up to my knee. Yes they are hotter but saves my ankles in case of bike crashes.

She's spoiled but.....shh...don't tell her I said that. Lol Thanks, I like the Flannel but would like to pick up their mesh jacket.

I had read many years ago when buying boots for riding to make sure the edge of the soles are rounded, not a sharp 90°. They said the sharp edge would grab on pavement and injure an ankle. The rounded edge will slide across the pavement easier. I've never tested that theory out, but I always buy boots with a rounded edge just in case.

For me it's about comfort and the weather, I wear a hawk jacket and it's awesome for the money about 60. Gloves I have Kimmy Moto cold weather gloves and they do okay until it gets into the mid '40s and then they start to saturate the cold through the top. I'm looking into heated gloves just trying to make sure that I can find a pair of that the top is heated not so much the bottom palm area but I need the top of the fingers heated where the wind hits. As far as pants eyewear pretty much anything jeans I like to wear like cargo style work pants they seem to be comfortable. If it's really hot I'll choose pants that have a larger leg size so air can flow up the pants feels good on a really hot day. As far up my boots I wear Carolinas I find them to be the best overall they have plenty of support their waterproof they're very cool they don't get as hot as my Milwaukee boots did in the Milwaukee's have a really tall heel and I feel like I'm walking on high heels and it hurts it hurts me to walk in them, the Carolinas were worth every penny. No something I find after riding for hours and hours on end or days on end which we're getting ready to do with the end of next week is underwear I don't know if that's the proper thing to talk about but I find that like a seamless nylon bicycle short is the most comfortable thing ever and I would have never dreamed I would say something like that. I have tried briefs boxers boxer briefs nothing is as nice as the seamless jockey middle leg with pockets if you get my drift underwear. Lol My helmets for the full face I use a HJC i-90 modular and it's the most comfortable thing I found in the $250 range now you can find them on sale for roughly a hundred bucks so very good deal super comfortable very lightweight and it has really awesome crystal clear visors with like glare reduction and all that built in so it's very clear to look out of. Also where half helmets use similar like the cruiser style half helmets when it's super hot I prefer to wear a full face but sometimes it's just too hot and unfortunately I take that chance. In the rain we purchased some inexpensive rain gear try really not to ride in the rain but it's kept us dry we've ridden in massive storms quite a few in this this year.

For heated gloves, I use warm & safe Ultimate Touring heated gloves. They aren't heated on palms and thinner to work with heated grips. The tops have insulation and heated. Very comfortable. The helmet I now have is my first HJC, and I'm very happy with it. I agree about the underwear. Seamless polyester style works the best for me, too.

I've never really thought about wearing loose pants for the air to flow through. You mentioned Caroline boots, that's what I wear for work. They are very comfortable.

I’m not much for buying Harley gear, but I do have a Harley jacket and a pair of Harley boots. I rarely wear the jacket (it’s probably been two years since I last wore it). I usually opt for one of my other jackets or my vest. The boots, however, I wear all the time. I got them a little over a year ago, and since then, there’s only been one or two days that I’ve worn one of my other pairs of boots (extremely cold days). They are easy to put on and are very very comfortable. They look good also, but I’d still wear them even if they didn’t look decent. They are Harley-Davidson Hagerman Leather Wedge boots. As far as helmets go, a good quality helmet is well worth the money. Besides being more likely to protect you better, they can fit better, and typically are quieter as well.

Let's see, I have two jackets from Harley. One leather which is very comfortable but just slightly bulky and one textile mesh. The Mrs has one jacket from Harley and one pair of their gloves.

Ah, I forgot to mention that my wife has two Harley jackets. One is an ADV type jacket that’s good for cold days and the other is a mesh jacket that came with an integrated hoodie which can be worn separately. She wears that mesh jacket almost exclusively these days. I have no idea who actually made my Harley boots, but they’re great boots.

@just_another_Joe I like the idea of a mesh jacket with hoodie.
@just_another_Joe4 ай бұрын
@@motorcycleden Oh same here. I tend to wear my mesh jacket a little more than anything else, particularly on days when you’re not quite sure what the temperature is going to do. Throw a hoodie in the tour pak and if it gets cool enough, stop and put the hoodie on underneath the mesh jacket.

I buy it when my gear is shoot. Good gear is more expensive for sure. I bought my first premium helmet the other day and I’ve been riding for decades. It’s just I can’t stand how much things cost. The helmet was 200 dollars off list price so I decided to go for it. I can’t stand motorcycle jackets but I wear long sleeves shits. To me motorcycle jacket are to bulky and way to heavy. I just wear jeans and some type of motorcycle footwear.

I really like it. Like I mentioned, anything over 80 gets warm, but they do have a mesh version. At some point, I'd like to get one. For me, I feel it's more comfortable than my other cool weather jackets, plus it feels less bulky. I did pull the back pad out and am just using the elbow and shoulder pads. I don't even notice the pads in there.
