+World Driving *I was also wondering if you will be posting videos of more advanced techniques, such as downshifting (not block shifting). Lately, I have been having some trouble coming up to a turn, and then trying to downshift and make a quick turn. It's not smooth and the car jerks a bit.*
@adamgs450h89 жыл бұрын
+AzNightmare Give the accelerator a little tap as you change down and it will make everything much smoother takes a bit to master but it works great does hamper fuel economy a tad but it's not noticeable unless you drive something thirsty
@AzNightmare9 жыл бұрын
Adam Staines *You're talking about rev matching, right?* I posted this about a month ago and I've been driving to work daily. Got this down pretty good now. Although in the Fiesta ST, I find from 3rd to 2nd, I have to really step on the accelerator hard just to rev it high enough to make it smooth. Whereas any other gears (5 to 4, 4 to 3), it's smooth as butter with a light tap.
@adamgs450h89 жыл бұрын
+AzNightmare That's it bud, Rev matching! I find the exact same with any car I've driven 5th to 4th is easy and smooth and so is 4th to 3rd I've been driving the same car the last 14 months so I'm really used to it now. I can get 3rd to 2nd most time but as you said you have to really build up the revs to get it smooth, I just knock it into neutral if I'm coming to a near stop like 10mph.

+World Driving Thank you very much for this video. I would like to know, what about smaller areas, when I am trying to maneuver to park a car or move out of a parking space which is immensely crowded with cars. I tend to not release my feet from the clutch for the fear that the car would jump suddenly and stop. This also happens in immense traffic, I do not release the clutch while driving or if I want to brake, or slow down, I have to press the brake along with the clutch. Is that the right practice? Is there a way to brake and not let the engine stop completely - I feel by pushing the brakes as well as the clutches I can control the car better. Please let me know I look forward to your response.

Hi there, I'm from New Zealand and was involved in heavy transport and tourism. We were taught the art of "skip shifting" gears, the same as you mentioned in the video about "block shifting". uk roads look dangerous asf

Actually, if you drive outside of London, it is pretty safe (ofc there will be the likelihood of accidents as with every road). Also, driving on the 'wrong' side depends on the country; us Brits say that Americans drive on the wrong side (even though there is no correct side).
@jake279906 жыл бұрын
Statistically UK roads are some of the safest in the world, and the safest in Europe. You should go to Italy, the roads there are insane.

Is it because the roads look narrow? They are indeed narrow but definitely not dangerous.

Wow, I though it was just about changing gears. I had no idea it would be this complicated. And yet he explains it in a way I can understand. Great video!

Thank you so much, I know how to drive a manual, but had never done it in a car, only bike, so now I'm going to do a car.

@@olahdanihair In the UK you dont have to stop for pedestrians unless it is a crossing with markings such as a zebra crossing or traffic light crossing. Because they hadnt gone on the road this was perfectly legal

These low RPM's might be true for a Diesel, but a petrol car can't handle these low RPM's.
@worlddriving9 жыл бұрын
+Danishbushcrafter Hi! This is a diesel car but as explained in the video, every car is different :)
@Gradedrdazzle7 жыл бұрын
They certainly can handle a 2 - 2.5k shift you spastic. A petrol engine is still designed that way.
@gravemind65366 жыл бұрын
I don't know that having your car in 4th and 5th gear running at 1200 RPM is good at all as it was in this video. That will lug the engine in those gears you need to be doing at least 1500 really.
@maxstriga92336 жыл бұрын
@@gravemind6536 you're gonna lug it if you floor the gas in low rpms and high gear. You normally downshift depending on your speed if you want to accelerate quickly. Not to mention it's a diesel engine
