Ours is 100% yellow finally, but it's super hard. Should it be harvested now & left to soften on the countertop near a window?

@@Wisdomseeker_777 If it's yellow then it is ripe. Smell it. It should smell sweet. If so then it's ready to cut and eat.

@yourworldexplorer1 I found out from another channel to harvest it when it falls over toward the ground, smells sweet & pulls away easily, no cutting should be necessary. Thanks anyway though.

How long from when the pineapple forms the flower to time to pick does it normally take? I noticed the flower in the middle in about December of 2023 and the fruit is still not ripe. No hint of yellow, but the crown looks great so it seems healthy. Just afraid I’m going to wait too long to pick but don’t want to pick too early.

@@mikeprimus3643 Must wait till yellowing starts. It takes different amounts of time for every fruit.

Its been awesome watching it grow (I live in suburbs of Chicago, so its interesting trying to make sure it doesn't get too much water when outside during the summer). Just seemed like 7 months of fruit growth was a lot, so I appreciate the direction.

Is it normal for there to be no pups? Mine is almost ready to pick but no pups and it’s not leaning

Yes. They often do not come until after the fruit is removed.

Mine is really small but it is half yellow and doesn't smell like anything

Yes they grow new Pineapples. They do not need to be separated. They will produce pineapples together without separating.

To get the largest and sweetest pineapples you should remove the pups and replant them. The root system can ideally support just one fruit. Any additional fruits will be stunted. When you twist off the ripe pineapple you also remove the attached shoots just below it. The main plant will usually have a second stalk growing to replace the picked one
