Jay saying that people are really depressed if they aren't hurting themselves or aren't always trying to end their lives it really hit me deep. Stephanie's current content is very tasteful, though. She doesn't mukbang while talking of crimes and tragedies, instead she reports them, and also plugs all charities involved to the topic while also donating to them. She has apologized about her old content's format and improved a lot after doing so, so yeah, fair comparison but the claims are very disconnected to her current work ethic and image. Regardless, good video! It's extremely horrible how some people take advantage of other's deaths to further their own fame.

As someone who interacts within Gorlworld for years, Chantel isn't hated on because she's fat (tho ofc there are ppl who do just hate her bc she's fat) but because she's a bigot. She's made fun of multiple sensitive subjects, she uses outdate terminology like the r-word which she "apologized" for (it was her roommate who basically did the apology) then later said she didn't have anything to apologize for and continues to this day to say it, she negected her cats and was going to put the elderly one to death so she could go live with her "husand" that she knew for only a few months at the time, she also allowed and laughed at said "husband" when he was making fun the gay creator Zachary Michael, she's been transphobic, etc. She's just an awful person and now hides behind saying she's a better person because she's a "practicing muslim" when in fact she has done a lot of tings that aren't suppose to be done when you're muslim. I think at the time, it's a fair comparison to Chantel to Stephanie even if Chantel's wasn't as neatly put together as Stephanie's. They were both casually eating food while talking about death. However, Stephanie had apologized and has fixed her content and imo has done a great job with her team in putting out meaningful content.

Sadly, thinking cult members don't have family is a misconception. HG members (and many others) had family and they're still alive. Part of the methodology of cult leaders is to isolate their followers. Most are gaslit into shunning family and friends, not being shunned by them. HG is also still an active cult, members voluntarily "stayed behind" to keep the website running and recruit new members. Digging into Jonestown was an eye opener when it comes to how cults operate and leaders manipulate/isolate their following.

True crime content in general is often very iffy, unless it was over a hundred years ago, since even large corporations have very unethical practices when it comes to producing it. That they reached out to victims and families of victims means nothing, since people have come forward and said that yes they did, to some, not all, and they didn’t listen to anyone that said no thanks I’m still in therapy processing the trauma. Too soon big mouse, too soon. So if you can try to imagine that the worst were to happen to you or someone you care about, then not even more than a few years later someone’s on the phone like hey can we exploit your trauma for money and we’ll pay you peanuts in comparison and then regardless of what you say, they do it anyway and while they’re laughing all the way to the bank, now you never know if you’re going to overhear people talking about you, and not everyone will be tactful or empathetic about it either. I can’t watch it. I don’t need to know. ”The psychology of evil” can be explored without exploiting and re-traumatising people because it is fascinating, at least to some people, so trying to go about it in other ways is possible. Read psychology, and remember, no you probably don’t have it, it’s normal to recognise yourself to a certain degree since we can have lesser traits linked to pathological traits in common with whatever it is you happen to relate to. Psychology isn’t just about the pathological aspects of the human mind, it’s trying to explore how our minds work for sometimes more annoying reasons than others, like how to make you click on an ad… so, speaking of evil …
