I wish Connor still had this hunger and this ferocity going into fights. He has been suffering from the Rocky Balboa syndrome from Rocky 3...ever since "the money fight" againt Floyd .....that same drive hasn't been there for Connor. Just like Rocky Balboa, the more money and fame Connor has gotten has ultimately gone to his head and his preparation and fight camps suffer. With how spread out he is with ventures outside of the octagon it clearly takes some of the attention away from the one and only thing he needs to focus on which is the fight and the training needed going into it. Dont get me wrong, what hes done for UFC and his own name and brand is and has been notning short of amazing but ultimately it made him take a step back as a fighter. He promotes, he has his hand in different business and merch deals etc but then put time into devolping and releasing Proper 12 whiskey and I feel that is what really did him in. His mouth has never been an issue as the man can sell the shit out of a fight. Its safe to say he could sell ketchup popsicles to women wearing white gloves. He had always backed up the trash talking because he has the skill and tools to be a champion and had that hunger. That ferocity and that drive to get out of the gutters from a money stand point and make a name for himself really fueled him. From the Khabib fight on, he hasn't put in the same level into his camps. I think the lifestyle of a young rich athlete and all the fun that comes with it started motivating him and driving him and he started prioritising fun and money over hard work...... just ask Rocky Balboa how that approach works. I love watching Connor fight and I hope he can find that ferocity again!! For the love of god....somebody call up Apollo Creed and tell him Connor needs to find that God damn eye of the tiger again !! 💯

@Bensonders2 жыл бұрын
Well, I guess for someone with McGregors talent it was pretty obvious that Siver can't do anything to him. I'm a german and I dislike McGregor very much, but even I would've easily said: Siver will get beat up(and thats a good thing). Siver is like what? The most one dimensional fighter in the weight class and the only thing he has going for him are his f-huge muscles thanks to roiding out. Even before the failed test everyone could tell that he looks just unnaturally buff for that division. And he always seemd stiff and slow thanks to all that bulk. McGregor would just pick him apart with his speed and precision. Especially at that time in McGregors career it felt more like a gifted win than a serious match. McGregor was known for being favored in striking, he got 2 old TUF fighters (one without any significance, only known for liking Dragonball Z and farting on TUF and one known for being a one trick striker with an aggression problem). Siver. Proirier who wasn't really that good at that time, no wonder he gets mentioned as one of the most improved fighters in the UFC. Holloway was pretty new and undeveloped at that time, too. McGregors first real test was vs Mendes, thats why so many people doubted McGregor in the beginning, he got a lot of hype beating up nobodies or winning matches he was favored in anyway. I know it sounds like the typical Conor hate train, but I never disliked him for his fighting, I would never dare to say that he is a bad fighter. I just didn't like the character.
@tater82512 жыл бұрын
@@Bensonders Personally I still feel like Conor for a hype train got some good fighters, most hype trains get four or five complete nobodies, especially nobody strikers(Look at Ian Garry, Paddy, O'Malley outside of Vera, even Khamzat till recently with Burns), the hype train guys with finishing power always get easy matches to hype them up when they get KOs so when they face someone good it's a hype match.

He was and still is entertaining. I wish he would’ve been more active though. Hopefully next year we’ll see him fight more.

I feel like conor and his coaches need to re-watch this fight because after that poirier fight I noticed he was barely using his kicks to keep distance, that’s why he lost cuz Dustin was able to close the distance and hit him with leg kicks. If conor is gonna beat Dustin in a tiebreaker fight he’s gonna need to do what he did here which is just rip kicks to the body legs and face all day.

@@misaelmendoza9725 hard to disagree, but he lost his momentum imo, lured by money and fame. He also takes himself too seriously, he's much less funny and witty in interviews.

Justin. P my man, i'm not hating, confidence is absolutely neccesary in life, without it you can't do shit, McGregor is probably one of the biggest athletes this world has ever seen, not only at skills level, but even mentally

Damn prime Conor’s movement/footwork and accuracy were otherworldly. He made everything look easy such a rhythmic guy he could easily win dancing with the stars. Also underrated is how he can fight going forward as well as on his back foot. Crazy once in a lifetime talent especially his discipline to diet down his weight so low. Lots of boxing and mma greats could’ve been goats if they could control their food habits and weight. Conor could come in like a scarecrow and then rebound the next day to fight. Just a rare combination of everything not to mention his trash talk and mental warfare. GOAT FW
