I think ironically the kashtira player caused their own demise at the end, lilybell couldn’t summon herself with the only monster zone occupied so by chaining to banish candina when candina searched there was a free monster zone for lilybell

It's more like a response effect? If X (kashtira) effect gets activated, Y (trickstar) effect response is dealing damage to the opponent If Y activated its effect (ex. If your opponent activates an effect, you "can activate" this effect), X "can activate" its own Yu-Gi-Oh ruling and wording are a bit weird

It's a continuous effect, I guess it's technically called trigger-like or something similar

Nope, it's a continuous effect, which is why the damage happens WHILE a chain is resolving. If it was an activated effect (like Dark Room of Nightmare, which is a Trigger-like effect), it would have to wait for the entire chain to resolve and then start building a new chain with all the burn effects as separate chain links.

Kashtira is kinda unplayable irl because you'd be basically exiled. I remember back when it was really popular, a bunch of greasy bastards were playing it (and being annoying about it) they were new to where we usually play and to this day no one really wants to play with them even though they all mostly got new decks
