it happens with every fandom, media with an anti bullying focus is likely being pushed towards kids and teens. In this case, Glee's demographic is mainly tween girls. The reason Glee seems like it has a bad fandom is really just sexism at the end of the day, it's no better or worse then any other piece of media, people just enjoy harassing teen girls lol. The cycle is something like fanbase erupts -> a woman does something stupid -> men attack her for a relatively normal mistake -> unrelated people see it because of how quickly everything snowballed -> unrelated men comment on how stupid she is -> blows up more -> cycle continues. Most fandom stories you hear are about women for a reason. Rick and Morty, Homestuck, Stranger Things, Marvel, etc, they aren't any different.

IIRC there were quite a few people who worked on the show that were known to post weekly spoilers after brad’s tweet though, everyone switched up. spoilers were suddenly wrong and immoral, and anyone who posted them was considered bad. the former (highly respected) leakers were now getting mass amounts of hate nicole didn’t deserve the hate she got - she was just a glee fan like the rest of us at the time who happened to have insider information. she only ever shared it because fans BEGGED her to. i hope she’s doing well now. fuck RIB.

This was really interesting... I work in post production, we work on hollywood movies so get to see everything in advance. I have had massive leaks at companies I have worked at twice coouchspidermantrailercough, it is awful. Internal audits, terse messages, massive meetings, means privileges get taken away from all of us. It is selfish, and really unprofessional and she shouldn't have worked as an extra again (though she didn't seem to want to anyway) and she must have known she was playing with fire. That said, she in no way deserved death threats or the backlash she got and Brad should have kept that offline instead of confirming the spoiler and berating a 21 year old publicly, and Glee not having NDA's is beyond stupid, we have to sign a bunch of NDA's and it formalizes what we can and can't say, not having that blurs the line between what can and can't be said.
@christophernoneya46352 жыл бұрын
The thing was she wasnt even an extra on any relevant episode, it was leaked to her in a personal capacity as a gossip blogger, she wasnt involved in the episode at all. Its the difference between if I revealed corporate secrets vs repeating stuff someone else leaked, not professional, but not exactly unprofessional either. This just sounds like the creator being an ass, no? He himself leaked the info by openly confirming it, he could have chosen to not comment or deny or spread counter rumours... when she said it it was just rumours. Essentially someone who worked with them in the past but was no longer involved, had no contract swearing them to secrecy even when they were involved, and was now just a gossip blogger got told something and posted it so the creator went out to get her kicked out the entire industry. This just sounds unjustified, it would be like if you posted something a friend told you about the next totallynotspiderman that you had no involvement in leading to you losing your job. Even without the public dragging its an issue imo
@ginandromeda16182 жыл бұрын
Finally an opinion I can agree with in the comments, I think both sides did wrong, even if Nicole wasn't working with them anymore she still leaked the important beat of an upcoming episode and spoilers do ruin the hype for many fans and creators alike but it shouldn't be a reason to bully or threat someone. Also, that's so neat, you didn't*wink wink* work in Spider-Man, please don't spoil the whole plot of the fourth movie for me and don't tell me what Tom, Tobey and Andrew are like because I know you didn't work with them... 👀
