Weather forecast struggles to predict if it will rain in the afternoon but scientists predicted that our solar system will be in a safe pocket during the merge of the two galaxies, should Humans still be alive on Earth they will be fine. I don't believe that a single second, but I will never know wether this is right or wrong lol...
@milhousevanhoutan92355 жыл бұрын
@@LilGamingYes weather phenomena are governed by far more forces than galaxies. It's basically just gravity in space sure there's more forces but their impact is so small that gravity overpowers all of them, kinda like a fart in a windstorm. Here on earth there's temperature and pressure differentials coriolis effect, jet stream etc. A couple of degrees change in temperature in the pacific ocean can cause massive swings in weather on the other side of the planet (see El Nino and La Nina). This means galaxies are easy to simulate into the far future but weather is hard to do even just a few days in advance.

2:31 Apparently it’s not the central supermassive black holes that hold galaxies together, it’s dark matter. (Dark matter may be mini black holes though.) Sagittarius A, the supermassive black hole at the centre of the Milky Way, takes up less than 0.001% of the mass of the galaxy. Meaning the Milky Way is not a huge orbit of Sagittarius A. So removing the supermassive black hole at the centre would not throw everything out into space, theoretically speaking. But perhaps dark matter is not factored into the game… which makes sense, seeing as we don’t understand it.

The andromeda galaxy is already on a crash course with the milky way, but it is so far away that human kind will be extinct far before this happens. However the distance between the stars in each galaxy is so immense that nothing will actually collide, they will sort of just pass each other by. The original kinetic energies of the two galaxies flying through space time prior to the collision are great enough that the gravitational fields of the two supermassive black holes at the center of the galaxies will not be strong enough to form a binary orbit with one another. Also, how did you get a galaxy (comprised of matter) to travel at the speed of light?

You know what's cooler than the fact that we actually will collide with the Andromeda galaxy is the fact that if we moved to another star system the chances of it colliding with another star is extremely low cause of the huge empty space in between. So if we create immortality by then and live to see it we will be in for a pretty cool light show

@thelocalnecromancer12243 жыл бұрын
Actually, Earth was likely left untouched. Due to the high amounts of dark matter compared to the amounts and sizes of the stars, planets, etc., there's a low chance anything will collide.

thats relative, galaxies move fast for us humans, but not fast for universe scales, even light speed is slow compared to the universe, the milky way galaxy is also pretty slow

Incredible how the gravitational influence of one celestial body in the center of the galaxy is strong enough to hold together all of the solar systems and everything else together. People think of black holes as things that just DESTROY! But in reality Sagittarius A is very important to us.

Wait... set the radius of every planet in the solar system (including moons and the sun [and dwarf planets {and asteroids}]) to 1.
@Endersouled5 жыл бұрын
I think our solar system would be fine without a black hole in the milky way Also, when andromeda and milky way do collide, it probably won't cause any damage to earth because of how far away everything is It's like throwing a needle into an already moving needle from a mile away. Even with all the gravitational force, it'll all probably just miss... Sorry for ruining your dreams! Also it wont happen for any time soon so don't worry about it cause we'll all be dead. ( I think )

If those galaxies were moving at the speed of light, they would leave everything that isn't light very far behind. In fact, this would mean that if a galaxy moved at the speed of light, it would rip itself apart, and would dissipate.
