When will the Western Balkans become EU-members?

Twenty years ago, after the wars in ex-Yugoslavia, the European Union said that the future of the western Balkan countries would be within the European Union. They would, as soon as possible, join the EU. Today, however, Serbia, Kosovo, Albania and the others, still don't belong to the EU. Why is that? Willen de huidige EU-landen dan geen verenigd Europa? Vjosa points out that diversity of race and religion in the region complicates efforts to integrate some Western Balkan countries into the European Union. This is a fact which, in my mind, bears little comedic value.

2 things to have in common: There are large hostilities between these countries and in example if Serbia would to join first, BH and Kosovo would always be vetoed as long as nationalism is strong there. The west will combine into one country rather sooner this century. A feeling not shared by Eastern Europeans. +Geopolitical developments that are not brought upon by war take decades and centuries, far beyond the attention of a particular human anyway

EU needs to reform itself before admitting new countries. The union has become too bureaucratic and with this many states having veto rights anything can be blocked by the whims of individual states. If new states are admitted without reforms EU will be stuck. One such example is the language and history dispute between Bulgaria and N. Macedonia or the name dispute between Greece and N. Macedonia. Which have put EU in an awkward position in which a member country is using his EU powers to override and suppress an aspiring country for Nationalistic gains. These issue have nothing to do with EU core ideals which are rule of law, democracy and human rights.

Now Bulgaria is doing the same to Macedonia. Bulgaria is denying Macedonian nation. Their chauvinistic policy says that ethnic Macedonians are just Bulgarians! So being in EU but actually acting completely against the basic values of EU is what Bulgaria is doing. The same country that was licking ass of Stalin, famous for being the only Warsaw packt country that asked for membership in Soviet Union and got refused is now buling their brave neighbor. They would do the same to Serbia just because they lost both wwi and wwii in comparison to Serbia/Yugoslavia

Did you just separate the color of the Balkan people and the Orthodox Church from Christianity? I would say that you think that Balkan people are not white enough or not in the same part of faith as your core values. But then Greece, Cyprus, Romania, and Bulgaria would need to be in the same position.

Europe is not united within the EU. Covid showed us there's no solidarity between countries. The greek crisis on debt showed us how Germany will put any country on his knees as soon as international market have a doubt. And, btw, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Norway, UK. Just saying.

I didnt mean to comment, but after hearing her comment about "different civilization" ergo muslim a d ortodox... all that right after the comment about inclusivity is beyond hypocritical to say the least. This is coming from a Croat in BiH! Weve been living with these people since the dawn of ages, for a thousand years this countrys been like that and theyre closer to us Croats with their civilization then are your fancy inclusive communities of rainbow colors. If i were you id sit on that for a bit and perhaos it wouldnt be a bad idea to study period of 1800s so you can get a bit of a feel for it too. The only correct thing said in this video is about rule of law. Its good, but it needs to be better than that.
