When I first started working out at the gym, I felt very awkward. I noticed others looking in my direction and it made me feel very self-conscious about my body. But I kept going and day after day I kept noticing others being very awkward around me. So I decided to break the ice and talk to each of them. I opened up and was very friendly with them. Most people are self conscious about their looks because they don't get validation from other people so they fear & wonder if they're "good enough" to even be there. A lot of people feel a sense of belonging, fitting in & receiving approval & acceptance from others. Yes, it's true, there are people amongst us who could care less about "fitting in" but the majority of us NEED approved, acceptance & validation through a connection. Some people connect based on how they look or their level of fitness. Others connect based on behavior & mannerisms. Sometimes it's a mood, a vibe or an attitude. In the gym, you subconsciously feel you are held by a specific standard & to meet those standards. You feel like everyone is staring at you, judging you, sizing you up & criticizing you. In a sense, most likely they probably are but they feel the same way & it's probably worse inside their heads about themselves. The gym is a very vulnerable place to be for a lot of people but then there are others at the gym who are comfortable & confident. The way you approach spending your time at the gym determines how others will perceive you. Virtually everyone is conscious & observant of the person beside them or near them in the gym & we create our own judgements about them based on human nature. We worry what others think of us but if we remain focused & determined, it is possible to change their minds, first impressions & preconceived notions about you. You can reinvent yourself and/or surprise other people in the Gym, assuming you have their attention. Otherwise, they either may or may not ignore you, your goals & your workout.

They don’t want to be bothered by men at the gym, hate men staring at them, etc. But now the guy does it back & you’re crying about them being rude? They’re doing the literal exact same thing women do to men in a gym setting. Women are rude, put you on blast for staring, trying to approach them during workouts, recording them, etc. Keep that same energy when females are rude to men. Unless you’re both females?
