When Yan Pei-Ming Reinvents Courbet

Yan Pei-Ming is preparing exhibitions dedicated to Gustave Courbet for the Musée d’Ornans and the Musée d’Orsay. This artist of Shanghai origin, based in Dijon, famous for his immense black and white or red and white portraits (Mao, Bruce Lee, the Pope, or Mona Lisa), wishes to confront his works with those of the master of realism, born in Ornans two centuries ago.
Their canvases will intertwine, creating a unique artistic dialogue.
Preferring allusion and wink, Yan Pei-Ming invites us to follow the path of his reflection, from the sketch of his ideas to their realization in his studio, a true creative sanctuary.

Yes, I think I think the same. The man has "so much capacity" in himself, that it seems strange at the same time, to be called upon to revitalize Courbet. (or it seems that they could not value so much the work of another country-foreigner, without the need to relate it to the French heritage itself). --At that point I think your comment is very good.
