I just came back from a trip there and honestly it's one of the prettiest countries I've seen, despite all the horrible events they went through in their modern history. Also the people are super nice (so I can't relate to the grumpy part lol) and in general I felt safe. Their food is amazing too! and overall it's super cheap even in touristic spots.

In Italy we have six entire villages (Caldonazzo, Levico, Roncegno, Mattarello, Ospedaletto, Legnano) emigrated to Bosnia-Erzegovina after a flood.Italians from these villages founded in Bosnia another village called Stivor. This story is tragicomic because the population should have emigrated to Brazil but the travel organizers stole all the money from the poor people and ran away so the Austro- Hungarian emperor Franz Joseph I invited them to live in Banja Luka region bacause he was in love with Valsugana and his thermae.Stivor and the other italian villages(Repopulated by survivors and Italians who lived in Bosnia)still exist and have many contacts.

A coulpe of years ago I met I girl whos mother is of Italian descent, from broader Prnjavor (Štivor is a village in Prnjavor municipality) located in nowdays Bosnia. Btw, Franz Joseph I had invited Italians/Germans/Czechs etc. in times when AH Empire freshly annexed Bosnia and had a long-term plan to "Catholicize" the land to the detriment of christian orthodox and muslim population (During the second half of 19th Century the Orthodox were a majority population). Plan was a great success, demographic picture was altered forgood, and conditions for everlasting internal conflicts and grudges were set. Girl was cool and laid back, though. :) Good and decent peoples rezide in aforementioned area.

While the place looks marginalised with poor infrastructure, the streets seem really clean . The nature and historical buildings look also lovely. And boy oh boy , their cuisine seems really good, i got very aroused when he said they eat a lot of meat . I love meat ( mostly i cant afford it tho). It may not be the most pristine european country, but damn this country came out of a brutal war not so long ago , so it seems to have much of potential plus it has its own unique balkan vibe. You need to learn the difference between punching UP vs punching DOWN. When someone is down, you don't go and punch them more, you help them stand up, and then you punch them when they're at an equal standing with you. There is no joy in punching down on someone who is trying to stand up. It's what cowards do. Punch UP if you have the balls.

Best comment ever, thank you so much for using a really nice level to make a point. I would not be able to respond so nicely to this ignorant arogant "wanna-be-a-joker-over-some- country-which-my-country-helped-get-destroyed-in-a-war". And all this years Germany uses Bosnia as a disposal for their non wanted diesel cars and old city buses (they are too dirty to polute their German air but perfectly fine to be sold to Bosnia) and they also have nothing against taking the medical and other staff, in which education they did not invest a dime as a state, but some other state did, and then just imported a "ready to work and pay taxes person". And they also have no problems underestimating anyone coming from this country, just thanks to a bad PR that country has, which is caused by many reasones, but also some "jokers" like this one. And no, this is not a "comedy", this here is a "Armutszeugnis" of an arrogant ignorant who thinks its cool to jump on a "spitting train". THANK YOU "Radical Living" to keep the prejudices alive. Nothing "radical" or new in your arrogance. Shame on you. And don't come back.

@@miapjo12 American, British or many other nations will never experience coming to a job interview and just by stating your last name, beeing asked at reception: "Oh, it is for the cleaning job?" Or bringing to a Job Search Counsler for high educated people (in Germany, Baden-Wuerttemberg) a folder 10cm thick with all the diplomas, certifications, ministry of..appraisals, and then hear: "The only job you can hope to get in Germany, is to first finish 3 years of schooling for cleaning personal. Then you will be the first person who speaks proper German AND knows how to clean properly as an expert!" Is that normal? No! And it would never be said to an Englishman, French, Canadian etc. The prejudices live when you keep them alive. Nobody sees you. They see your country bad PR. And they put you in a drawer. And this kind of "framing" keeps that alive! Thus my "Thank you" for the Radical Living. His "contribution" here is so much bigger, then he might ever know. Saddly, it is a negative impact. But that is his choice. And mine is to call it out, when I see it. Sure you can find some abandoned and horrible places in US, England, and frame them as "country" but we all KNOW that it is only one corner of the land. It puts no stain to a general image of already positivly perceived country. This "spitting train" actually has much more weight to already bad perception. As we say: If you cannot help someone, its ok, just don't make his life harder, and that is already great help!

@@AndytheChav I fully agree with you that the Higher Representative of Europian Union, who rules over Bosnia & Herz.already for some 25+ years after the Balkan wars, should be abolished as an institution and the people who live in BH should be able to take care of their affairs on their own. Great point. And if they are fine with having corrupted politicians, fine. Their business. And it would be great if IMF and whoever is in charge, gives allowans to Bosnians to have proper currency, not some KM currency (value of former Deutsche Mark) which is only valid anywhere in the world if you exchange it for euros - only possible in Bosnia. And it would be great if the banks operating in Bosnia would not take 7-12% of interest for the same loanes, for which they take 1,7-2% in Germany, where people earn much more. And that they give back all the stolen money (during the war) from people savings accounts, without beeing sued first. Lawyers cost. Not everyone had the savings enough to risk a trial costs, against gigantic banks. Really so many smart and informed people in here. Self-righteous with 100% convictions. I would not dare to give a lesson to the people / countries I know nothing about.
