One space Marine, out of the two there talks about how he saved him from the Tau.. Sad to see such a cool character die so soon after meeting him

Fun fact: A similar thing like this happened during a training competition between a Imperial guard regiment some space marines. Rebar through the eye socket, but also, high explosive shockwave. It was a little silly, but it was a shaped charge with shrapnel like a claymore. Frankly even with no protection for most marines it would be an eye implant and other augmetics and happy days from this. The sound and visual design didn't quite express enough force. Would've been better to show a melon sized exit wound in the back of the helmet or him at least split in two. But they are like orks or people, its entirely variable how easily they go. For example there's a reflex from pressure in the eye that causes your heart to stop. A bother in eye surgery. It isn't clear if space marines have this flaw still, that some eye injuries kill them on the spot.

If you look at it from a scientific perspective. If it were a krak trap, the concussive wave probably turned all of his organs into jelly. A similar thing happens to tanks taking hits from RPGs. No penetration, but the crew is dead because that tank amplifies the force of concussive blasts imparted on the crew.

Waaaaaaaayyyyyy more Astartes are dead than alive, so much so that multiple chapters were/are facing recruitment challenges. Iirc, that was one of the issues Primaris were thought to help rectify. Primarily are actually, generally speaking, far less capable off the rip than Astartes that had to earn their place in the chapters. This is due to battle experience while becoming a first gen Astartes vs Primaris who are grabbed, created and shipped out. At the start of their careers, Primaris are more likely to fall for an ambush or trap due to not being trained up by a chapter, but being created en masses and shipped out... And looks like another Primaris bites the dust in the above video, just as I said how a Primaris might die.

I'd recommend trying to understand what Chaos is in 40k, and how it literally bends reality where those heretics are present. Far crazier, not even dangerous, just crazy, has happened due to Chaos. And the Chaos god Tzeentch, which those enemies in the game are his champions and soldiers... Good luck figuring out what he's up to. It's basically impossible for humans to conceptualize the god, much less his thought processes and plans. Also, don't try to learn about Chaos because I'll report you to The Inquisition, hard and fast ;)

If I remember correctly, krak type explosives have a pretty good chance of getting past Space Marine armor but use small blast templates. This scene therefore makes perfect sense.

demolition charges do D6+3 Attacks at 2 damage each attack, and Primaris marines 'only' have 2 Wounds. the fact that he's technically still alive enough to be Dreadnaught'd is a testament to the Primaris enhancements
