@@pickledparsleyparty that's actually not true. There is a bunch of bands(including mine) that use an eight string with a bass tuned an octave lower. Amplification and harmonics help make a sound
@pickledparsleyparty
@pickledparsleyparty 2 жыл бұрын
@@Kaktysh_metal What does it mean to tune a bass down an octave? Low E on a bass is already in the first register. 0, so it's E0. There aren't any audible registers below that. Maybe if you amp it enough the audience can feel the air vibrating, but how is it possible to make a pitch audible at those frequencies? EDIT: Just noticed I was wrong above. Low E on standard bass is E1, not E0. E0 is about 20Hz, so E1 would be about 40Hz. I guess you could tune your standard bass down a little. Down a whole octave is silly. You'd be playing at the threshold of human hearing. Unless the bassist's job is mostly just pushing air around the room, I don't see the point.
@Kaktysh_metal
@Kaktysh_metal 2 жыл бұрын
@@pickledparsleyparty the e string of an electric bass is tuned to 41.20 hertz, not 20.6. And also in case you didn't know every note contains a lot of notes above the actual pitch which create the tembre. It's called harmonic series. The amp basically is doing the same thing - it adds harmonics. Especially on high gain. So you're not supposed to hear 20.6 Hz exactly to still feel a fat bass. As when you're listening to music through a general speaker, in most cases you don't hear the exact notes the bass is playing, you're just hearing the harmonics. It's enough for your brain to get the pitch correctly
