@tonya--77042 жыл бұрын
@@hoedownthrowdown9043 Yes, I can see that they would feel that way. But it was never intentional. It wasn't "a plan to take out other skaters". Yuzuru is just that beloved. And he above anyone would want everyone to do their best because if they're not at their best then his competing against them doesn't mean much to him. The ISU has benefited greatly from Yuzu's popularity for many years. The economy of the host cities have benefited. Competitive men's figure skating has never been this popular and this exciting. Maybe the skaters competing in this era do feel a bit of "if it wasn't for him I would have been more". But when it comes down to it they have all had the opportunity to expand their talents and put in the work it takes to make a name for themselves which is exactly what Yuzuru did. Look at Javi, and Shoma, and Yuma, and Nathan. They have all bested him and he gets all excited again for the game. It's what he lives for.

There has to be resentment, don't you think? There's never been such a gap between skaters before. I mean there's been rivalries and some skaters have always been better than others but there's never been this madness of fan preference before in history. Mostly the skaters had pretty much an even fan base and equal cheering for all. But the craziness with Yuzu is unprecedented. If not for Yuzu being such a presence in competitions other skaters would have been more successful. I think this is partly why the American's fans are so hateful. Because no matter how he performs Yuzu is always the focus wherever he is.
@AuroraIvashkov2 жыл бұрын
I never really cared for figure skating much before Yuzu. I knew it existed and I'd see some clips in passing like Yuna or other skaters, but most of the time it's because of scandals. I was never into it as a sport, until I found Yuzu. Now not only I watch the sport and learned lots about it, I watch all seasonal competitions as well. And I watch other Japanese, Russian, US, Canadian skaters too. He made me fall in love with the sport. I don't think anyone can deny the impact he had on this sport. Yuzu deserve every bit of recognition he has and more. I hope most skaters will know what an important figure he is in the history of the sport, his impacts and instead of resentment they'll have admiration, respect and see him as a role model to strive towards, to surpass.
@tonya--77042 жыл бұрын
@@AuroraIvashkov I saw that Chan, Ten and Takahashi and their fans were not nice to Yuzu at all his first years as a senior. I think that has a lot to do with the way Yuzuru treats the younger skaters because he knows what it's like having someone treat you with bad sportsmanship so he kind of watches out for them. And the difference is Yuzu was consistently taking the gold from the older guys. At 2020 4cc he asked Yuma if he was doing okay at the medal ceremony. I also think that as much of a diva as our darling Yuzu is, (just admit it, he is and he deserves every bit of it) it does embarrass him that the other skaters don't get all the media kudos they should be getting because they are totally obsessed with him. I watch very few other skaters. I like the Canadians and Japanese best. Boyang is a favorite. I won't watch Americans even though I am American. It's mostly because now that they finally have a contender after how ever many years they are hatefully insufferable. The media, the fans they're all so pompous like however did the sport of figure skating survive without them to grab all the medals and lead the way. So as far as I'm concerned US skating is nothing.
@AuroraIvashkov2 жыл бұрын
@@tonya--7704 Oh American media is definitely insufferable, as well as certain types of fans. But I won't put that same burden on the skaters, they do have decent skaters and I just hope media won't ruin them. And I won't even get into the politics and favouritism of the sports that is a whole another thing.

He has this unmatched charisma and charm, its just refreshing, it makes sense for so many people to go absolutely crazy for him, if i were a skater i dont think id be envious rather id see him as a role model
@tonya--77042 жыл бұрын
@@dimly2002 I'm glad he had Javi with him a lot over the years. I think Javi kind of looked after him and I think that's what Yuzu tries to do with the younger guys like Jun and Yuma and Shoma still to a degree. Yuzu is just so different than the rest. He can hold his composure with all those cameras in his face constantly. Like he doesn't even notice. Every competition has been a worldwide appearance with hundreds of videos and thousands of pictures and he's always been charming and respectful and beautiful. He even bows to the lighting guys way up in the stands. I went on Toshi's website to see if he had said anything about working with Yuzu yesterday after I watched Masquerade for like the 50th time. I was just curious since I'm curious about all the people he works with. Toshi sort of wrote him a kind of poem. It was very sweet. I think he may have fallen in love with Yuzu a little bit. I can see why he would.

He is a rockstar in the world of figure skating. I wonder when he decides to retire who will fill that huge arena? Just last week when he withdrew from NHK Trophy 2021, about 3000 tickets were sold online. Then the guy from Rusfed gave interview that Yuzuru hadn't withdrawn from Rostelecom so that fans didn't request for tickets refund (or at least until the timeline for refund has passed). ISU seriously need to thank him for the many new fans of figure skating that he attracted. I see no other athletes as big as him that can carry this legion of fans. However the way that ISU have treated Yuzuru for the past years makes me want him to retire and show them what they will be missing out (ticket sales, advertisements, etc.). But at the same time I don't want him to retire ever, but knowing him when he feels that he cannot get gold he will stop competitively because he hates losing.

NEVER FORGET HOW AMAZING YUZURU IS AND HE DESERVES ALL THE APPLAUSE!
Yuzu has turned pro with even better performance. He has done solo Prologue and history breakthrough solo GIFT at Tokyo Dome. When we talk about huge gap in terms of popularity between Yuzu and others, the right question to ask is why cannot other skaters bring out a performance like Yuzu’s? Remember, Yuzu begins with 0 (big fat zero) fans! Actually he begins with antis because he rightfully wins over an older and more popular one at that time. Now Yuzu is like God in Japan and a treasured legend/our dearest sweetheart worldwide. What makes people (and more and more people) love him so much? Not just FS performance (it’s just a foundation to begin with). His charisma/charm goes far beyond that.
