The algorithm simple compares faces. It's kind of creepy, you can try it: Find a channel that has a redhead featured heavily in the videos, watch some and then watch yt conclude that you wanne see more redheads and show fairly unrelated content with redhaired people in it. Obviously it works with ethnicities aswell, which is kind of messed up, if you think about the implications.

Trying to fix my computer, found a 10 minute tutorial with a super thick Indian accent. Went through it but gave me nothing useful. Then I received a bunch of recommended videos of thick Indian accent tutorials.

The first time I got a flat tire I was out in the middle of nowhere, but luckily I barely had some cell reception (this was back in the 3g days) so I was able to look up how to change a flat tire on a Ford F-150. I remember it took like 5 minutes for the stupid ad to load up so I could watch the video.

KZbin recommended lawn mowing videos for weeks. I don't even own a lawnmower.

Discovered Ryan while I was VERY sick with covid a few weeks ago- his videos were the biggest thing that kept my spirits up. New fan forever I decided 😃💜

Yes I’m okay now thank you 😃 I have a heart disease and was still in hospital for a while despite having two doses of the vaccine, so without vaccination I’d probably be dead

I can’t hate on KZbin for its recommendations. It introduced me to you and I am so glad that you’re in my life now. You’ve not only brought me countless hours of joy and laughter, but you’ve changed my vernacular in all the best ways. Keep being awesome, Ryan

That's not true, the movie stars all have different faces. And that one guy has glasses, so that can't possibly be Ryan George.

Every now and then, the "almighty" algorithm decides that there's nothing better for me to watch than things I've already watched. It never seems to learn, in spite of how much I tell it that I'm not interested in videos I've already watched.

The problem is a majority of people want one thing, and a minority want another. But the minority generates most of KZbin's revenue, so they do what those people want, even if it counters the wishes of the majority. In conclusion, KZbin has the exact same problem as democratic elections.
