So Carnage is Venom's son, with symbiotes there off spring get stronger than the previous one, so Carnage us naturally stronger and he also eventually gains the immunity to fire and sound the same weaknesses as Venom. Edit: my mistake for misplacing Toxins immunity to normal symbiote to Carnage.

Carnage is stronger because he connects through the bloodstream, this allows him to spread more as blood cells can multiply much more than just a symbiote’s mass. As well as this, they’re more connected, in the comics Carnage and Cletus are basically one person, sure they’re kinda two but it’s really one person (although the movies did a whole 180 on this and made their bad connection be the reason they lose but eh).

Also the reason Carnage is more powerful than Venom is all science, Venom is bonded through Eddie’s neural pathways, but Carnage is bonded with blood, this makes Carnage regenerate as red blood cells do every second and as nerves do not, this also explains Carnage’s weapons and projectiles, blood can be lost as parts of Carnage get launched out in some scenes, as the one in the trailer, and he can do this because as I said blood regenerates, so that is why Carnage is more powerful.

THE REASON FOR CARNAGE BEING STRONGER I learned about this in the venom vs Carnage comic, Carnage produced an offspring who was Toxin, it was after Toxin and Carnage fought and Toxin kicked his ass we learned that whenever a symbiote reproduces it gets weaker, so not only was Carnage weak against toxin but Carnage was just weaker in general leading him to puss out on fighting venom but instead to join him temporarily to beat toxin. That same thing happened to venom in let there be Carnage so he was just weaker from giving birth, I guess that is why my mom is always tired.

The reason why Carnage is so much more powerful than Venom is imo is when we see Carnage it's red because it's in Cassidy's bloodstream and thus the bond will be much harder to break which is why (Spoiler alert) they needed to use the scream symbiote plus that bell to break the bond because it's a blood bond unlike Venom and Eddie

If you read the comics, Carnage is stronger because he's younger. Each generation of symbiotes is stronger than the last, and with Venom being one of the oldest symbiotes, the next generation of would be exceptionally powerful. The reason that Carnage is red is because he's connected to blood. In the movie he came from Eddie's blood but in the comics when venom broke Eddie out of prison, he dropped Carnage there where he slipped into a bloody cut on Cletus's hand. Carnage should have been black like Venom, but since he first merged with Cletus's blood he is red with black areas. Because Carnage is bonded with Cletus's blood it is also difficult to separate the two. Scientists once tried to remove Carnage from Cletus but Carnage was able to grip on to his cells and he slaughtered the scientists. Even when they successfully removed Carnage and terminated it, the residue still in Cletus's blood remained conscious and degree from that. In the the comics Cletus and Carnage only teamed up with Shriek once and there was no love interest. Shriek also has psychic powers which she used to make the entire city go murderously insane. Plus Cletus and Carnage were perfectly symbiotic in the books. The developers just needed a way for Venom to defeat Carnage on his own because he originally needed Spiderman's help.

Carnage doesn't follow rules, and thrives on chaos. Venom has a rule not to harm "innocents". Because of that, you get a dynamic similar to batman and the joker (except that venom is still capable of killing). Also all of the sybiotes that show up after venom in the comics are considered his offspring so that all are stronger than venom because he is the first in the family line (I guess you would call it that)

Every generation of symbiotes become stronger. And have a unique ability. Also fun fact. Symbiotes only reproduce right before a cataclysmic event in order to multiply to protect the hive. Knull created them for that. Carnage was right before infinity war, toxin was before (I forgot) and sleeper was before knull.
