Lie. Angel is 242 years old, Spike is about 123 - 126 depending. Plus, Angelus sired Drusilla, who in turn sired Spike. Angelus, and Angel, could wipe Spike out pretty easily if he so tried, and is Spike didn't trick or corner him. Angelus and Darla were the badass ones when they reigned, and Spike and Dru basically followed them around. Spike killed a couple of Slayers, sure, but one of them was an accident. She just walked into it. Summery - Angelus beats William The Bloody, hands down.

There's a few reasons for that. In season 2 of Buffy they had Angelus look really pale, where as after season 2 they stopped making him pale looking. He also gained weight because he got hurt a few years back (which is why he didn't do much action in season 5), watch Bones, you'll see he's as thin as in Buffy again. Lastly, his hair was way to short in season 4 Angel.
