I used to train jiu jitsu a lot, and that always destroyed my ego. I transitioned to mountain biking because I get the same type of mind body connection without the soul crushing. If someone is faster/better than me, I move to the side and let them pass. I couldn't care less. Seeing a better rider is way easier to deal with than having another man physically control and submit you.

I always try to keep in mind what surfing has taught me; the best surfer is the one having the most fun without getting in anyone’s way. This video totally trolled me. Have had that happen before... bring out a new guy to teach him to ride. Kicks my ass... "Oh ya but I rode a dirt bike since I was 5 years old and do a lot of cross country". Reminds me of this other guy who was asking me a bunch of questions because he was going camping for the first time. I start explaining things to him and he stops me halfway, "Oh I know all that, I was in the army for 5 years, spent most of the time sleeping outside." DUDE WTF. I can relate to this. I grew up mountain biking in the 90s. Fully rigid bikes down gnarly trails. And we certainly never took our mountain bikes on jumps. That would bend your rims. Jumps were for BMX only! I basically stopped riding when I got my driver's licence in high school. And started working all the time. Flash forward to 2015 and mountain bikes have totally changed. They are now made for taking huge jumps? And they have full suspensions? They cost upwards of $1000? However, they are so much better than I grew up with. Bike tech has come so far. I haven't been to the new bike park yet. I guess I should go before I get too old.

You will regret it on your deathbed if you don’t go to that bike park! Go as soon as you can! I saw over 10 people racing this last weekend who were definitely over 70+. You can never be too old for bikes, well 90+ is probably too old 😂.

When i started biking with my scott spark it was so hard because i spent many decades learning to skate and knew i was good in this sport but biking was completly new for me. I had many crashes and fears of going downhill and thought: This is tough as fuck! HAHA Then i watched many youtube videos and went biking as much as i could. I slowly got better and the key to success was buying an enduro bike for me. This type of bike and the extra travel (160/150 Trek Remedy 8) gave me so much confidence on technical trails up and down. At jumping i really suck but i am motivated to learn it soon! Nice Video and judging people by there apparel and gear is not ok.
