@@Mr.Brothybear it removes one spikes each time one of your weapons deals damage. Although you still will take one damage before the spike is removed. so it pairs well with anything that gives healing an hit too. its a relic tho so you need to get it from a boss.

Yeah King is a really overpowered boss. I hope they tone down his spikes, because he feels awful to fight. It works a lot better to have that same legendary shield to remove his rage and spikes, but he gets more every time you attack and your set up auto-used so many weapons the shield couldnt remove it as fast as he was gaining it, since he gains more on every hit he takes

I had this same sort of build for one of my games, only I was using cleavers. My one shield would activate a Kings cleaver, which activated 2 queens cleavers, which activated 7 cleavers and one jack cleaver, which would activate one more. Only the first cleaver would lose damage from Spirit Shield. For that last boss I had to take all that apart, my shield would give me haste, so I built my haste up to around 70ish, and used several whetstones to gain health on hit while also adding to the damage the cleavers do. When I was buff enough I reorganized back to my OP build and killed him in one hit. It was just a struggle to survive until then. I must have reorganized like 3 times during the fight.

This exact same death happened to me last night when I played. Had the belt of knives which had me throwing a half dozen knives at the boss and then hitting them with a sword that gained 3 damage for each knife thrown.

I CAN'T BELIEVE HE FINALLY PLAYED MY FAVOURITE GAME. I grinded this game for months, and a tip DF is that you want the cleansing candle (all weapons get the applied effect when used - remove one of each effect on all enemies for each use, which also includes spikes/thorns). Another ULTIMATE suggestion is to instead of getting spirit shield (it's still VERY good), you should've gotten the belt of knives (whip your opponents with a belt ATTACHED WITH KNIVES) because BoK (Belt Of Knives) gives the effect to all weapons - on use, all adjacent weapons get +3 damage this turn. just realised he had already played backpack hero before XD, my bad, but still ECSTATIC for the new backpack hero content, he also made me remember and check if the game is available to buy, which I'm LITERALLY putting my credit card number and all the other details to buy the game on steam. thx DF

The reason the shield wasn't using the lance is because the angel wings disable the weapon for 1 turn. So it can't be activated by the shield now.

Man I completely forgot about this game. I was so addicted to playing it but once the game went to Steam and the devs decided only backers got to play the new stuff I got really bored of the game. If a game you no longer play puts out new content are you going to pay money just because you used to play the game? Of course you wouldn't. If the devs would have allowed people to buy in to the Early Access sooner than I would have gladly bought it. They chose to not allow people so I don't feel bad for not buying it now.

vs king you really need either the candle relic to remove his spikes, ranged weapons to bypass them, or a tank-heavy build with spikes of your own since him getting damaged by your spikes does not cause him to gain any for himself. Tbh, it's not a fun boss. It's the most strict in the game in terms of what works against him and what doesn't. Without RNG giving you the correct items to bypass him, he can just kill off your run and you can't really do anything about it.
