@@denesem2161 Calm down? Dude declawing is literally amputation. They amputate from the last bone of each toe. Go chop all your finger tips off and come back and say it's fine. It can cause plenty of problems for the cat like paw pain, back pain, infection, tissue necrosis, not to the mention usually causes behavioral changes. Most places that actually have decent animal welfare laws have made it illegal, hmmm wonder why that is? Declawing of cats (in like 98% of cases) serves no medical purpose. Declawing is likely to subject the cat to significant pain. Declawing is likely to result in significant negative changes in cat behavior, including increase in biting and inappropriate urination, since you are taking away their first line of defense. (Yes even for indoor cats) It's like taking away some of their confidence, their sense of security. Declawing, even partially, can lead to changes in behavior. Cats use their claws for balance, climbing, and scratching, which are important for their physical and mental health. Removing a claw could affect your cat's ability to perform these natural behaviors. The cat needs to learn how to walk and balance all over again, similar to someone who has had their toes cut off. Cats NEED to scratch. So take the time to train them to use a scratching post. Or trim their claws, or get nail caps. If someone's material furniture means more to them than a living breathing animal that's supposed to be "part of the family", maybe they should just get a fish instead. A cat is not the right pet for that type of person, if you need to surgically change something about the animal, it's not for you.
