From what I’ve learned over time is, it’s your preference. Every “expert” has said something different. He’s absolutely right “you do you” and apply according to what you’re doing, something intimate, go light and put a little around the neck (keep her wanting to come back in for another sniff) outside park or event go a little heavy because you have the room of outdoors to do so. Typically I spray inside of both wrist, inside both elbows and a little on the neck and that works for me of course depending on what I’m wearing (par-fume, cologne, extrait) will play into how much I spray.

I've found the best place to spray for weaker projecting fragrances are on the inside of the arm right at the crack of your elbows. Both sides. 2 or 3 shots each and you'll be catching wiffs of your fragrance for hours. Also great for projection. I've found spraying the inside of the wrist is probably the worst place to spray since I tend to wash my hands (and upper wrists) throughout the day, and of course I'm probably washing off that fragrance.

Very helpful topic, Marcelo. I am an “under sprayer” and I spritz one at a time (even if I layer) because I want to enjoy the scent as it slowly builds up. I find that if I spray with abandon, there is a risk that I can go beyond how intense or intimate I like my fragrance would be for the activities of that day. Btw, I don’t think I have commented on this yet - Congratulations on the 30k!

I was wearing 1 and a half sprays of orto parisi Bergamask on my neck to work (I’m a production chemist) I applied it 9 hours before going to work and my co workers told me that they could smell me anywhere and everywhere so strongly, but unfortunately they all said it’s a very sweaty stench and actually smells as if someone would sweat while wearing a fresh shirt. They didn’t like it and also told me, that it’s way too offensive. I don’t find the musk note and oud base to be a sweaty smell but seems like everyone else does. I think Bergamask is really beautiful and a masterpiece just like any other orto parisi. Btw even after my 8 hours shift it was still projecting like hell and filling the whole room and spreading scent trails wherever I walked. Don’t forget I was actually wearing it for like 17h at this point. Even after showering it was still projecting off of my body. It’s definitely a true 24h+ scent. The first 8 hours it smelt like a beautiful mix of realistic bergamotte, sandelwood overload and cedar, lavender and a very nice musk. Also the typical orto parisi dna (which I also smell in terroni and Boccanera) which smells like sexy, warm, spicy dark mysterious skin smell to me ( probably due to the oud in the base of all orto Parisi) was very detectable imo throughout the whole day of wearing it.

Wow my friend this is one of the most important videos you ever made!... I think that in addition to the things you mentioned, climate and weather are the most important thing. some fragrances just are suitable for curtatin seasons. if it's 32 degrees (celcius) with high humidity, no fragrance will stay on... and in cold winter, you should NOT wear citrus and aquatic perfumes - most will not have lasting power whatsoever. Another thing, perfume concentration does not mean automatically louder fragrances. I have tons of EDT's (especially from the older eras) that will but every EDP or extrait to shame... it's all about the ingredients. thanks for the great video and helpful information!

Awesome to hear from you Philip, I love your contribution to this conversation. 100% on the money when it comes to your comments. As I mentioned, sometimes the fragrance is designed to be very intimate and personal not everything that is a EDP will have this enormous loud projection to it! I love your perspective on weather, this is a major contributor. I can see that I will do another episode, talking about the impact of different seasons on our fragrances… Thanks for the great idea, my friend💫🙏🏽

Good evening Marcelo. SOTD - Iris Malikhan Maison Crevelli. Only time I went anosmic was when I had the dreaded 🦠. Tend to spray wrists, elbows and a spray on chest area. Never do I want to smell nothing again, it’s a very odd experience and all my fragrance sat unused for about 3 months. Made me very grateful for something I took for granted before. 🙏🏽🌻💛

A few points. edp doesnt mean it projects and its powerful. In fact its usually much closer to the skin. Same with pure Parfum. Its the concentration not the projection. Second, spraying in hair does wonders for longevity on me. Highly recommend. Three, I never wear fragrances for others so I always want to smell it. If I dont smell it then the point is lost so I keep applying throughout the day.

I spray on the décolleté. I have no trouble smelling my scent all day. I have no trouble with the cacophony of scents around me. Because I always spray in the same place, for decades now and I can always smell my fragrance. I’m tall, so my scent can go over some people’s head or be in the face of others. I use one or two sprays and rarely reapply. I rarely layer scents either. I want my fragrance to do what it does, whatever that may be, over its’ natural timeline.

Hello Marcelo ! thanks for this useful video. All this is really well thought, I'll be more cautious with sprays around the head 😉 . I personally like to spray my armpits (having used a neutral or non scented deodorant then). Why ? because 1) they're very warm 2)they're humid 3)they're a CLOSED space most of the time. Meaning that the scent will not evaporate as quickly as from the rest of the body, only when lifting arms a bit, but at that moment it will have (stayed a bit younger in the evolution and have) a good projection. Perfumes tend to not last much on me and I experienced that the last whiffs of them (mostly edp) generally come from there (and textiles).

Due to genetics I run cold, have a pulse that's mid 50s at rest, a bp that's in the 90s at rest and rarely goes over 120, and basically don't sweat (simply do not heat up except heavy consistent exertion). I pretty much have to use exposed skin with good blood flow. Elbows, behind ears, where the carotid hits the jawline, etc unless it's something inherently nuclear.

I tried spraying on my bare chest, but couldn't smell through my t-shirt (I too only wear edp or higher). It could be that I'm just not a hot person(I rarely sweat), so I spray only on exposed skin. I almost always apply moisturizer before spraying so it's not because of dry skin. I also overspray as I get more compliments doing that(unless I'm riding in a car with someone or at work)

I have a very close friend who is a trainer within the perfume industry. He comes across a lot (and I mean a lot!) of fragrances. He mentions to me that in order to give his nose a break. He actually wears no fragrances over the weekend (I know that for us perfume lovers this is a very big fast!) but he mentions that this allows his nose/brain to relax, and therefore able to do his work as the week commences. I’m wondering if maybe there is a certain level of nose fatigue on your part?? Maybe do a little bit of a perfume fast. And also spray away from your face/neck/chest and slowly allow your nose to step up, and begin to fight for that scent. Thanks again for reaching out, good luck!💫

I do the sides and back of my neck along with my arms. I would think spraying anywhere on the front of your torso is in the direct line of your nose. I think my skin chemistry is one that absorbs fragrance. I tend to spray a lot and I’ve rarely gotten comments saying I’m overwhelming.

Keep them in a cool, dark and dry place if possible. You don’t need to be paranoid about it, as some people do like to keep their fragrances out on display - but anywhere in direct sunlight is a big no-no, as is keeping them in the bathroom where they’ll be exposed to a lot of humidity and temperature changes. 👍🏻

That's right. I only spray on skin. I never spray on clothes. I find that if I spray on clothes, then the fragrance will stay here and will then clash with other fragrance's that I might be wearing. About nose blind - this summer I used ATH Supernova a lot. And I’m spraying it heavily, but I think this fragrance is more powerful than I think. My girlfriend says that the fragrance walks in before me. And her friend was able to detect the fragrance like 5 minutes after I left the building. In elevator, in a corridor, in a hall… And thats all when I almost couldn’t smell the fragrance on me.

Is there any value in putting Vaseline on under your perfume to make it last longer? Also I’ve heard people say to put it on your clothes but I was worried about staining.
