How did you make those nest fronts? How r vertical pieces attached to the horizontal pieces?

JL185 they where very simple to make. I used 1 by 8 lumber and cut them down to 1 inch widths. The spacing is inch and a half. I used a cheap harbor freight nail/staple gun to pin everything together. The door is 7 in tall and 5 in wide. Once all the pieces were cut I started from the middle and worked outward. Once u make one the rest are easy and will take you an afternoon to complete.

From the bottom. I used the fence of my table saw to set everything in place and pinned it from the ends.

Make yourself a 1 1/2 spacer from some scrap. It’s will make everything that much easier/faster.

+Dutch Pigeons brother your 100% right about not breeding for color but in this case these birds are off of the mosaic which is a proven breeder so it’s a win win for me. I get good quality birds and a pretty color lol

I like what youre doing. As a former breeder i have many yrs of experience. I did things a little differently than tou have. I let the cocks choose their own box but didnt lock them up until i paired them with a hen. Im not saying what you are doing is wrong, i just did mine differently. This family would do awesomely here in Hawaii. Our longest race is about 325 miles. I had a mosiac colored bird a time or 2. With my experience these always showed great results in racing and breeding winners. So get as much from him as you can. As for the older cock, i suggest using fosters for his offspring so you can extend his fertility by not having him exert feeding his young. I did for any of my birds that were over 7 yrs old. Im also like you in that when i see a pretty bird i get all excited. Looking forward to your future vids on the breeding as this was my specialty. If you have any questions dont hesitate to ask.
