I am a muslim from south east asia. Some well-knpwn preachers in my country do support, and order their audience to support sharia law in an explicit way (by mentioning hand chopping or another anti-humanism act). The other preachers speak about it smoothly by not mentioning the cruel parts. And the rest preachers said that sharia law cannot be interpreted literally as the same as its practice in ancient time, instead, it is something subliminal and the value is already exist in modern law. You can say that this last type of preachers as the moderate one. Ironically they keep on losing power and attention among the believers. I couldn't agree more with this, this is basically what I've been saying for years. I was also a muslim raised in a middle-class family, and EVERYTHING this video showed are very sadly true. People who deny the factual data, and don't believe first-hand accounts NEED to actually study the horrible facts and re-evaluate their views accordingly. I stayed on an island in Thailand for 4 weeks at a guesthouse owned and operated by a muslim family. The entire family was so nice and courteous to me the entire time, asked me to sit down and join their family for dinner on multiple occasions. The eldest son asked me questions about living in the west & the culture, I asked him about his culture & faith & and if it was a big influence in his families life. We were basically 2 people from different worlds sitting and having a conversation...while sharing coca cola. His Dad would let me hop on one of their motorbikes for free whenever I needed to cruise down to the markets and buy anything (other guests had to pay to rent them XD). This family just wanted to live in peace on this beautiful island. We can't ignore the threat of extremist Islam towards the West, but there really are Muslims out there who are decent human beings & shouldn't be held to the same standard as the extremists.

DarkWandererAU yeah I hear you, I lived in Indonesia during the 90’s when I was a teenager (my dad worked at a big mine) I didn’t have any issues, I had a great Muslim friend and a few that I was close with. Having said this, there were huge cultural differences between us, my sister (2 years older than me) couldn’t go out and hang in public, the women had a totally different experience than me and dad. My mother was not allowed to drive either. It was a great experience but I thing the cultural divide between us and them is too big to have large scale migration, it just won’t happen. When we were living there we had to follow their rules, be very respectful towards their traditions etc. that’s just not the case when the roles are reversed.

I really appreciate you highlighting that we moderate Muslims exist, cause we really do. When the twin towers came down my mom told me she cried for hours cause of how bad it was. Unfortunately most Muslims are becoming radical extremists but we moderate ones exist. The problem is most us don't realise that Islam is just a religion, just like every other religion. We're made to believe that our religion is perfect and I guess all religions tell that to it's followers and every religion believes it's the correct one but some Muslims don't realise that other ppl also think their religion is correct too so they go on thinking islam is the only religion that should be followed and others are wrong and shouldn't be followed and start seeing non Muslims as not human beings and it's just wrong. The only way we'll ever have peace in this tiny rock of ours drifting through space is if we recognise and respect the fact that the same way we believe our religion is perfect is the same way everyone believes their religion is perfect cause even the Quran says that..You have your religion and I have my own. Everyone should have the right to worship what they want. Cause if you were to go into a Muslim majority country and say Christianity or Judaism is the right religion you'd probably be killed. well, as far as I know, no one really "lump" on me, and i think its because I'm Asian and doesn't look like middle eastern person. Most of Asian Muslims rarely get lumped on as the other Muslims, I think we have a little bit different take on the religion and that's what make us seem more moderate. I think the violentness and other bad things is not really associated to the religion, but to their culture and background; because I think people in the middle eastern country had it rough and have different view on moral standards, while where I came from our moral standards is not really that different than where I live now(US). You might read a portion of the old testament where Cain killed Able and God is pronouncing his sentence, the death penalty, and Cain makes a brilliant legal argument which goes like this:: I killed out of passion - jealousy and I was wrong. Are you God now going to kill me out of passion - anger and make my mistake? Surely there is something short of that... If you read it in Hebrew it goes like that. And God considers Cain's legal argument and accepts it as correct. How brilliant the book of the Jews is. Anyway Mohamed took the brilliant Jewish book the old testament and scrubbed it clean of any argument, reasoning, dissent. Like King David was a poet/sheppard, God chose him to be Israel's king and leadthe nation through constant wars. David was beloved but he didn't obey God's law he was wicked sending into battle Uriah to get killed so he could steal Uriah's wife, Bathsheba. God shows how absolute power corrupts absolutely. So the prophet Nathan gets in the kings face and says to the King David, if you see a millionaire and he owns 110 vineyards but he arranges to have have a poor man with one vineyard killed so that he can buy it cheap and take it from him, what should be done to him. King David says the law (old testament ) forbids that he should be executed. Nathan said, that is what you did with Bathsheba and Uriah and the Lord says you will pay the price for that. See what the Jews taught the world, that there is law, law is divinely inspired and that even Kings must obey the law or else. God punished David with the death of their love child. But see what this story teaches you, that kings aren't God's. Can you helieve that Mohamed scrubs King David's sin out of this when he puts this in the Koran. Do you see why Islam is a mess? I had Egyptian Muslims living next to me for a few years, and they were really friendly to my face. But, they would throw huge chunks of metal and plastic in my yard and other trash. Serious, genuinely truth-seeking questions- How can a Muslim be moderate if 'moderate' means disagreeing with the barbarism of classic Islam? Wouldn't it require no longer praising Muhammad as a hero that should be emulated? Wouldn't that make such a person no longer a Muslim? Well, I actually liked the video because he had some fair points but I'm against the hypothesis drawn from it all because I've grown up myself in as many Muslim communities as one has fingers and I've seen many many extremes...it's too long of a topic to talk about but if you have a specific query, ill try my best to answer... Also, I'm deeply against sensationalism, even when it's supported by facts so while I agree with the individual opinions shown on this channel, the conclusion drawn is usually a bit extreme or not the sum of its parts.

I live in Mindanao in Southern Philippines. We (as well as my ancestors) live with Muslims for about 600 years here. This is true. Those who live with them long well know them well. I visited my grandpa a month ago in his dying state at age of 89 in the province of Cotabato where i spent my childhood. "Muslims want war, it's in their blood". I could never forget what grandpa says who lived he's entire life in a province of many muslims community. Here in the south we have a legion called "ilaga" (meaning "rats" in my language), a group of armed christians who operates without the government support. This group was formed because nonmuslim communities are being harrased and attacked since ages. Here in my country we have the saying "isog ra nang muslim kon daghan" meaning "muslims are only brave when they are numerous". They play victim when they are the few but will become very aggressive when they are the majority. My country has always been plagues with endless peace talks and treaty but the muslims always break them. Fake peace treaty is justified in islamic faith, as what Muhammad did to the Meccans. Everyone knows in my island of Mindanao that it is dangerous for non-muslims to enter a muslim town or village. Yes, not all muslims are bad, i have muslim few friends, a muslim family even helped me with my college thesis. The problem is not the muslims per se. It is islam and its ideology, and a muslim person is an outlet of that ideology - to conquer, to dominate. Political correctness is a weakspot that this ideology will find it's way to penetrate.

We partook in Ramadan, celebrated certain religious holidays, welcomed our newborns in a muslim way, buried our dead in a muslim way but that was it. We didn’t read the Quran, we didn’t have a drive to convert people, we didn’t cover ourselves and we sure as hell didn’t want them religious nut-jobs to gain power. I married an American 24 years ago and live in U.S. My family didn’t demand he convert to Islam if he wants to marry me just as my husband never pressured me to convert to christianity. I recently converted to christianity by choice and my family didn’t disown me and actually joked and said they were expecting it much sooner.

Here's why you never hear about moderate Muslims: There are MILLIONS of reform Muslims who speak out against and protest extremism, but it's not your fault you don't know about it. You haven't heard of it because the MEDIA DOESN'T COVER IT. They don't cover Muslim leaders like Andrei Sakhorov and Vaclav Havel who speak out against it or events such as the 30,000 Muslims from around the world who traveled to the UK to protest Isis a few months ago. Covering these people and events IS KEY TO FIGHTING EXTREMISM. The only time the media ever covers Muslims is when a terrorist attack occurs.

I have a Muslim friend who is the kindest woman I know. Her family is very much in favor of Sharia Law, and she has had to run away from her parents and siblings because of how abusive her father has been in following their faith. While she's the only Muslim I know, she is a moderate Muslim and has certainly been affected by the religion. She chooses to follow it without all the hate. I just hope she's safe.

I have met many Islamic people who were peaceful and loving. I have also met the opposite. There are people from every religion that are good and that are evil. I have to say this: when I was working at an airport and in the evening it the Muslim brothers were having their communal meal, they looked at me (not necessarily appearing as a Muslim man, and they, without question, invited me to dine with them. I felt a great feeling of brotherhood and love. After this experience, I must say that there is great potential for love in every true religion, and I honestly hope that all people can appreciate our similarities and rejoice in our differences. Instead of waging war, we should have our children marry each other to unite us in truth, love, and wisdom. It would benefit all of us, as all cultures have something to give.

I agree and disagree. I lived in Singapore, a nation between two moderate Muslim countries, and I know Christians who were heavily persecuted in both Malaysia and Indonesia. However, I believe the solution to extreme Islamism, is to integrate Muslims into western society. Singapore's population is 5.5 million, and 750K of those are Muslims, but we haven't had any problems with radical Islam in Singapore, because the Muslims are integrated into a progressive secular society.
