I admire your insight and at the same time gently remind you that we ALL are called to be Saint Peter Damians. We are livng in a time where the Laity must do its job, as the brave and faithful Clergy get demoted, canceled and silenced. Not so with us, difficult as it will still be, still having to fight Satan's wanna-be false popes of the sinful world. We are called and were born for such time as this. God does not called the equipped, he equips those that he calls, ALL of us!

Not only is unnnatural vice made a legal right in the west, but also has come to be regarded as a virtue to be strived for and for its boldness to be applauded by the currently ruling ideology. Speaking against it in polite company has come to be considered an infringement of cultural norms and defending it a matter of social justice for all those who want to appear righteous before human eyes. Like just about every liberal or progressive cause, everything is justified by an appeal to love or to mercy. What well-adjusted and social person wants to take a stand against the side of social justice, love and mercy? No normal person does, of course, because that is what the cruel and mean and obnoxious people do, all those who are considered by polite society to be evil and worthless. For this reason it has become very hard to practice the social virtues while opposing the ruling ideology of the culture at large. This is propably also why there are so few St. Damians. In the end the biggest tragedy is, I guess, how this all effects legitimate, well ordered love and mercy. People become cynical and the actual, true charity of many grows cold.

Peter Damian (Latin: Petrus Damianus; Italian: Pietro or Pier Damiani) (c. 1007 - 21 or 22 February 1072 or 1073) was a reforming Benedictine monk and cardinal in the circle of Pope Leo IX. Dante placed him in one of the highest circles of Paradiso, as a great predecessor of Saint Francis of Assisi, and he was declared a Doctor of the Church in 1828. His feast day is 21 February.

The rallying call grows and spreads, our work is just beginning Be heralds of His Holy Word and criers of the mercy of truth, for justice is satisfied if mercy is not. The Lord calls us all to be quiet before the abominable no more, to shrink not before the dragon's threatening hiss. It may hold the world, but it cowers before the Light of the World and it shrinks back before Our Lady, for it knows she shall crush its head and its days are number. Soldier on for we are soldiers of God and behold, the Church is going to war to once more conquer the rebellious world in the name of God, and to save the people from themselves. May God lead and protect us and raise up for us, holy and courageous leaders to lead us in battle. Through Christ, Our Lord, Our Savior, and King of All Creation. Amen Jesus I trust in You.

Like children who are unaware of self desires, that which adults become accustomed to; there is no cognitive choice in this matter. The world of the Spirit, in contrast to that of the Flesh, can really not be fully appreciated without sacrifice. However, in time, with age, or severity of moment; the Spirit is all that remains as the flesh is no longer essential. If one must crave, then crave to live for the Spirit before the Flesh. Life will never end. Peace.

Men living homosexual lifestyles experience far greater percentages of drug and sexual addiction, suicide, and death through HIV and AIDS. Excellent homily Fr. And very timely given the state of the church today starting with Pope Francis. I appreciate that you stated the truth from your heart, plainly, clearly and without affectation. However, I'm asking myself if you identify with the great mass of faithful Catholics who cling to spiritual mediocrity, who have the fervent hope to die in a *State of Grace*, and undergo purification after death. Or do you identify with SAINT Peter Damian for whom nothing less than radical holiness will satisfy your soul? God bless.

@@oldcait6886 Are you serious?... it's not clear, flat words on a flat screen, if you are asking sincerely, or if you are implicitly saying...."Who the hell do you think you are?" I hope it's the former which would reveal that you are not completely clueless spiritually. Jesus Christ was born as an infant into this world full of evil, died on a cross, was resurrected, ascended into Heaven.....to bridge the ABYSS caused by the disobedience of our First Parents, under which the human race is condemned. He redeemed the world, but the effects of Original Sin still haunts mankind, and personal sin still overwhelms the church. Father's homily was addressing not just the history of the church riddled with sinners and wickedness, a church SAVED FROM OBLIVION, down through the centuries, BY A FEW HOLY MEN AND WOMEN WHO DESIRED RADICAL HOLINESS. The priest addressed the profound attractions of evil, in this case the sin of sodomy which "cries out to heaven for vengeance" even though he focussed on the church of the early 11th century in order to address the appalling corruption of the church's hierarchy today starting with Pope Francis., all of whom are going to go to hell if they don't repent. And sure enough, many of those prelates, and there is no way I'm going to pretend that Francis is not one of them want to normalize the homosexual lifestyle. With reference to Original Sin, God withdrew Sanctifying Grace from the souls of Adam and Eve, thus our intellects were darkened our wills weakened and this tragic state rules our earthly lives, and most devout Catholics cling to the bitter fruit of Original Sin, and the least of those ORIGINAL weaknesses is the powerful attachment to spiritual mediocrity. Only a willingness to answer to Christ's call to personal holiness, to suffer, to die to the old Adam self, will save our Catholic Church and whatever remnants of western civilization that remain. And this is the way that will end God's chastisement of the church by a return to faithfulness led by and inspired by a few men and women will will settle for nothing less than saintliness.

@@oldcait6886 I responded to your comment before you edited it. However with the editing, your "sincerity" has been made clear. And most of what you say makes no sense. The "bible belt" is Protestant(heretics) the "Chair of Peter" is held by one man, at a time, and as for "skittle", whatever?....I don't know what you are talking about, and neither do you. It sound like you cling to delusions about the steadfastness and faithfulness of the church which is your way of justifying your own spiritual "mediocrity". I already clarified in my first two comments that there is a REMNANT of faithful Catholics who are devout Catholics, but that does not equate with radical holiness, which I'm absolutely confident that this is the view of Sensus Fidelium.......... Few there are who answer the call to radical holiness even though the faithful remnant is sincerely Catholic, but who hold back from radical suffering for Christ and His beleaguered church. And please refrain from attacking me personally, because all the "ASSumptions" come from you since you are way over your head, which of course just proves my point that holiness cannot be separated from the great virtue of HUMILITY. And spiritual mediocrities often get defensive and go on the attack, when what is called for is SUBMISSION to the tragic truth of the state of our FALLEN CONDITION.

@Mwuhaha for the first 1.5 years of Francis' pontificate, I made endless excuses for him....he's "different", he's "pastoral", he really means "something different from his words".......it was very hard for me to accept that a pope could be so blatantly arrogant and deliberately reject infallible church doctrines. But there came a time when I could no longer deny the truth of my intellect and 5 senses.......that this man has appointed himself to be the final arbiter of what God wills for His church and mankind. Francis is a man of great deviousness and low cunning, and he throws in statements, out of context, regarding gays and priests and celibacy. Unfortunately, he does not preach the gospel of Jesus Christ........and he is obliged like all bishops and priests to warn SSA men and women that they are GOING TO GO TO HELL, if they live the gay lifestyle, if they don't repent and live chaste lives, before they die. He has caused great scandal, and it's faithful Catholics who bear the brunt of his anger, his ridiculous and harsh judgementalism.

Most my my comments below are NOT about priests who break their vows of chastity. Instead, I wish to first address the stance of early Biblical Authors and St. Damian on HOMOSEXUALITY in general. The problem with this is that St. Damian and other ANCIENT authors had no clue about the complexity and true nature of human sexuality. Their assumption was that everyone is born the same as heterosexuals. But this just is not true. And if you were to do any research on modern sexuality study in the medical field, you would find that many gay men are born to women who are entering menopause. Scientific research suggests strongly that the chemical soup in the womb is different (perhaps not balanced?) as in a young woman, and this might lead to some sort of gender confusion in gestation. This combined with environment in the first 3 years may confirm a homosexual orientation. Therefore, people are not all born heterosexual. But the priests of the Old Testament and St. Paul assumed that everyone IS born heterosexual. This is where St. Damian got his marching orders. Therefore, to partake in gay sex acts would be against their nature. However, modern medical science shows that people can be inherently homosexual. therefore, it is NOT a choice (even the Catholic Church knows this) and the acts are therefore NOT unnatural to these people. These people are NOT heterosexuals who decide for aberrant reasons to have sex with the same sex. In ancient times, the most visible homosexuality was in the competing pagan gods that would have been quite well known to the Old Testament Priests and Saint Paul. Baal is one example. The belief was that the god Baal could temporarily possess (like a demon) his priests. If a follower of Baal then had sex with that priest,. the follower was in essence uniting with the god himself. Therefore, temple homosexual prostitution was a sacred rite. Paul would have seen this and assumed quite rightly that homosexual acts were abominable and against nature. But neither the Old Testament priests nor Paul had a clue that some people are born innately homosexual. Neither author of the Bible could have ever conceived of 2 gay men with ethical maturing and love coming together as adults to commit their entire lives to each other in a civil marriage. The Old Testament priests and Paul had no concept of homosexuality within a loving monogamous committed relationship. To them, homosexuality was a behavior by heterosexuals who worshipped pagan gods in disgusting rituals or married men who had anal sex with other men for the sheer pleasure without fear of pregnancy. So you are using ancient context to judge and condemn gay people in the 21st century who do not fit the context of the Biblical author's perspective. But to know this, you have to actually get involved in Biblical scholarship, and I know that is tough for a lot of folks. I realize it is much easier for most people to simply hate gay people in general and rationalize it with these ancient authors. Perhaps with continued medical research, there will come a time when an expectant mother's womb can be balanced and homosexuality eradicated through medical means before birth. Until then, it makes no sense to continue these anti-gay crusades (right out of the DARK AGES of Europe) towards those men who are gay now. Nonetheless, I do not condone any priest breaking his vows. If he cannot keep his pants zipped, then he should leave the priesthood. Homosexuality is a sexual orientation, not an action. Chaste homosexual priests are not the problem since sexual orientation should be irrelevant for a chaste priest. But any homosexual or heterosexual priest who will not remain "continent" (without sex) should be defrocked. Pope Francis could end the scandal in the Church at any time by simply chopping heads, starting at the Cardinal and Bishop level. That he refuses means that he does not care that the Catholic Church will continue a downward spiral in the public's mind. There are supposedly over 45 state civil criminal investigations going on. Eventually, they will reveal their findings and it will be devastating to the Church. If Pope Francis had struck first, defrocking large numbers of sexually active clergy with openness and candor, this could have been avoided. The man is deeply out of his depth and seems to live in a Vatican "bubble", not realizing the immense wrath and rage in the public today. Once these criminal review investigations start revealing their findings across the USA, there will be apocalypse for the Catholic Church in the USA. And for Pope Francis to whisk away the perpetrators to Rome (as he has done before) will only inflame the situation further. The man must go.
