My Grandmother was the most important person in my life. Christmas was the best holiday because of her. She made is amazing and truely special. She died last December. Right before Christmas. It is so painful to face this month without her. I feel lost and alone and empty. Like Christmas itself died along with her. I just want her back. Just for one last Christmas.

Touchy song. Lol I remember, I was like 8 or 9 when I first heard this song. Those were the days.....Christmas was different when you were a child but as you grow up, it changes. When my grandma died, I died and Christmas was her favorite holiday and her birthday was 3 days before. I quit loving Christmas I quit celebrating, I quit decorating. Reminds me of the Christmas I spent in the hospital. I had plans to eat Christmas dinner with a couple neighbors of mine 2 years ago. But I had to go to the ER and they found a huge gallstone blocking my bile duct and admitted me. I texted my neighbors and told them I'm in the hospital. I had my surgery on December 25. They didn't do anything Christmassy for me in the hospital-no Christmas cards, no presents-just the regular food and an ordinary day in the hospital. I did get to watch Christmas Mass on TV from my bed.

You just have to allow yourself to look around you at your family all together, look at the kids in your family, and just remember the joy and warmth that they bring. Allow yourself to get excited about Santa stuff for goodness sakes! Everyone’s allowed to be a kid at Christmas. Listen to Christmas music, sit in the dark in front of your tree all lit up at night and put some Christmas music, and think about baby Jesus and how the world changed when he was born. That’s the magic, and from that we all feel extra joy at Christmas simply from being together, exchanging gifts, and celebrating! You’ll feel it again :)

I probably won't be having Christmas. Since my Uncle passed away August 9, 2018 Christmas won't ever be the same. I used to call him or text him or message him to wish him Merry Christmas and to tell him to I loved him. This will be the first year I won't be able to do that. My Christmas Spirit is weak. I don't think I have any strength to have any Christmas Spirit. Every time I hear this song over the radio, and I'm riding in the car, I literally want to break down crying. I had a miscarriage with my twins the day before Thanksgiving and then I got a new job about a week later (Alzheimer's unit) and this was one of the songs they played in lou of Christmas. Two versions. The movie version and then a longer version. Mariah Carey was a co-writer on the longer version and recorded it but because of a legal challenge by her ex husband Tommy Mottola, she couldn't release it and Faith Hill recorded it instead. So there is a Mariah Carey version but as for now it can't be released.
