Although he claimed to have killed 21 men, the actual number is likely less than 10. At about age 21, Billy the Kid was gunned down by Sheriff Pat Garrett.

I inadvertently found myself in Lincoln county NM last fall , then passed John Tungstals store. I had to turn around and stop. It almost exactly as it was in 1880. The floorboards where Billy was hiding is opened up to see and the craziest thing was that Sherrif Pat Brady's great great great ? Grandson was still there picking up his mail just yards away from where his Great great ? Grandpa was shot by Billy. The whole moment was surreal
