Hello how are you? Im just starting my road trip in the north island from Wellington and I have some questions. My name is Nallely and Im from Mexico 🌵 1. Where do you recommend me to search campsites for non self contained, I know campers mate but you mention DOC also. 2. At what time you have to arrived to the campsites? Because it says first come first served, the thing is that if you find a place you have to be there so none take your place... 3. What's the rate for just parking and sleep in campsites, holiday parks etc? Hopefully you can help me, thank you 😊

Hi Nallely! For non self-contained camping, CamperMate and DOC sites are your best bets, you are correct!. DOC (Department of Conservation) campsites often operate on a first-come, first-served basis, so arriving earlier in the afternoon is safest. Basic DOC sites can be around NZD $15 per night, and holiday parks might range from NZD $20-$40 for a tent site. Hi i am planning to do southisland , with non self contained campervan , i am planning to stay in some air bnb and some hotels , now my question is if i want to park the campervan on road or public parking or hotel parking ..is it allowed to do so since i am staying in airbnb ??also for self contained if i park in hotel parking or airbnb parking and staying hotel ,is it allowed or will have to search campground near by ? Second if i book holiday park cabin still i have to pay extra for powered or non powered sites.?

You can generally park your campervan at an Airbnb or hotel car park if the host allows it, but overnight camping on public roads with a non self-contained van usually isn’t permitted so leave curtains open so wardens can see that you are not sleeping in it. If you’re staying in a holiday park cabin, you won’t need a powered or non-powered site unless you plan to use the campervan’s facilities. QUESTION: FERRY FROM NZ TO AUSTRALIA Hi there, Could I purchase a campervan in NZ, tour around NZ for a while, and then ferry it across to Australia, and do some touring that side? Something like the Wellington/Picton ferry, but all the way to Australia. Kind Regards, Jorge

Heya! We have never heard of that, I think that it would not make financial sense to do so and would not even know how to get started with that sorry :( Seas freight from OZ to NZ is expensive :(
