That wasn't a Komodo Dragon Drew, it was a Water Monitor. They are usually smaller than that but they are the kind of animal that just keep growing throughout their life so long as they eat enough so they can grow almost as big as Komodo Dragons. Overall Finland did alot of tricking in ww2 against russian bomberraids. My grandma (who was a child during the war) told me that all of her towns people took all of the lanterns and other lightsources away from the town into the woods (when it was dark during winter all the time), so the russians naturally bombed at places with light, thinking there to be civilization, in this case it was middle of nowhere away from the real town. Not sure how the story went, but there are plenty of trickstery strories like that from many other finnish veterans.

Actually for the paint vs reflectors debate, the reflectors take longer to individually install, have to be specifically jackhammered out before redoing a road and they can damage and cause metal debris on roads. If the reflective paint goes and drys similarly to normal road paint then 2 miles of it can be put down and dry enough to not track in a little over an hour, it wouldn’t cause dangerous debris and would come up with the road whenever it is resurfaced.

Even software too keep their computer systems up to date. Bear also made similar more "mechanical" devices even before the 1970s (1960s and before).
