Where Do Cognitive Functions Come From?

MBTI is a very confusing personality psychology model, especially when we start learning about cognitive functions. This is the first video in what will be a series explaining the ins-and-outs of what I consider the fundamentals of MBTI, and what better place to start this journey than with the actual building blocks of the mind?
It is worth noting that when discussing these concepts, we use the most extreme and pure versions of the ideas in order to better illustrate their differences. With that in mind, typology is very complex, and no descriptions will be an exact match for any person's experience. Everyone's personality is a dynamic and fluid representation of their biological and environmental influences, so we all live on a spectrum somewhere between the 16 personalities.

Wow, like always, amazing cinematography. Interesting that our tertiary function gets "more used". I've noticed (especially with caffeine fueled bouts) that I (ENTP) have more external sensory cravings as I exhaust my thinking (like doing focused bouts of work writing or coding, idk if this is Te?). I wonder if there is a balancing mechanism, like exhaustion of one type of cognitive function demands a balance which causes our body to crave another form of cognitive stimulation.

Thanks for such an in response! Yeah with the function positions I plan to do more exhaustive videos because to say for example the tertiary is “more used” is just not doing it justice on my part. It’s way more complicated than that. I do also often wonder about function exhaustion which is a whole other layer. I have my theories on this topic but I’ll save them for a later video as well😉

Amazing content again. I am just worried about the click-bait potential of the thumbnail to be honest.

I’d love to hear your ideas for a better title? I just want to make it clear I’m not explaining the functions themselves, you know?

Hey glad to see you back! I’m not sure if you saw my response to your last comment, I’ll plug it here again just in case. Otherwise, no new books have been referenced. I believe all the books I mentioned were "Moats and beams" Michael Pierce "Neuroscience of personality" Dario Nardi "On the improvement of understanding" Spinoza There were more small references as well like towards Nietzsche etc. As far as my type, that will come in due time my friend (:
