This is terrific. As someone studying game design, this will be a very valuable tool

One night of hell would be epic as a reference to the cataclysm. Would have fit incredibly since cataclysm classic is coming out and such... Im imagining something like when Deathwing flew across the land changing the landscape etc

Why are you calling a spinning wheel a computer generated program like it’s something fancy. It’s just words on a wheel lol

That's the joke.jpg

2:52 this is definitely not what its like to be a game dev lmao. I hope this whole video was just a fun joke and you don't actually think people spin wheels and randomizers to come up with new ideas.

Let me deconstruct the joke for you, even tho deconstructing jokes ruins them but I have the suspicion that you may not really caught it. The last couple expansions for Hearthstone felt *very* off brand. The world the game is build on can be goofy and funny. At times. But the overall tone of Warcraft has been straight high fantasy. And for the longest time HS was running that theme as well. Even goofier expansions like Darkmoon Fair where still on brand. More recently, starting with Showdown in the Badlands I'd argue (tho others might claim as early as Scholomance, or as late as Whizbangs Workshop), the dev team has gone of the deep end. One might say they "jumped the shark". The video is poking fun at the fact that it feels like that, at the moment, they don't even know what to do with HS anymore and are just throwing themes at the wall, trying to find something that sticks. Non of the recent expansion have any correlation to the source material that HS is coming from nor its internal logic. It's just outright goofy with barely any of it's high fantasy themes left.

I really appreciate the obvious thought and effort that you put into your analysis and deconstruction of my video, unfortunately, you've given me far more credit for having those kinds of deep thoughts than I deserve. This video was in no way meant as a commentary on anything, let alone a sly criticism of the Devs expansion selection process or the choices that they have made, which I personally love. I think the Devs are amazing, especially a couple of them in particular. For example, every one of the recent expansions, including my daughter's Whizbang's Workshop or my son's Perils in Paradise sets were absolutely fantastic. I know that some people prefer more WoW based sets and while those certainly can be great as well, Hearthstone has crafted it's own identity separate from it's Warcraft foundations. My video was a goofy imagining of the process and really not a commentary on anything other than perhaps my own odd thought process and warped imagination. I also don't believe in explaining the joke if I can avoid it, but I thought I'd chime in here. Thanks

@@JustAGuyHS Welp. Good old "projecting my own viewpoint onto others". Man did I step into it there. Oh well, can't be helped. Happy for you that you're enjoying HS current trajectory.
