I just trained for a month and was sent off to do it on my own. I make six figures and contract out of a few distributors.

If there are garage doors there, there is most likely room for garage door businesses. Companies cannot keep up with demand for the amount for garage doors there are in one city, so there’s is always room for new technicians in most cases.

I noticed that some of the self-penetrating lag screws with HEX heads have the letter A or letter H stamped on them ( CHI hardware). What do these letters mean? Are these screws interchangeable? Do I need a contractors license to do residential type garage door repair in California? How many months should my work guaranty cover?
@moleniumcondor Жыл бұрын
Maybe just a stamp of the company doing it? I know linear has 3 lines on their lags…I always thought it was just basically a stamp

Where is your institution? Is it possible to get the course in person?

Great info. Ive been a tech for 3 years and want to start my own business in a few years out here in California. I currently make about 70k a year doing it for a nationwide franchise and love it. What would you say is the average people make the first few years?

I do installs only and contract from a few distributors who also provide me work. I make six figures and do as much or as little as I want.

@DudeEggs do you need a helper to install them or can you do them alone?

I'm from Australia, I'm going to do this trade, what kind of vehicle to do the job
@GarageDoorTrainingSchool Жыл бұрын
As mentioned in the video, a truck or van is best and most convenient vehicle for garage doors.

Is your certification accredited, and is the certification recognized by any manufacturers or home warranty providers? Does your training cover common parts to keep on your truck? Thanks.
@DudeEggs11 ай бұрын
You might keep a few common parts, but, mostly you'll have a list of stops for the day and will acquire those parts before leaving the warehouse.

Hi friend, how many permits do I need to run a business like this?
@GarageDoorTrainingSchool Жыл бұрын
This can differ by the state, it's best to check with the city you plan on doing business.

Do you charge for diagnosis?
@GarageDoorTrainingSchool Жыл бұрын
There’s not usually a charge for just diagnosing. Usually you can diagnose the issue over the phone or at least have a ballpark idea, before you get to the job. Most of the time, the customer will want it fixed at the time of diagnosis, so they’d pay for just the repair not the diagnosis 👍

@tjelder8791 Жыл бұрын
Your videos are awesome. This is definitely what I'm going to do. I already have a truck, and have the business registered with the state. But having a wife and children I am having trouble saving up to pay for your course. Do you offer a payment plan for your school?
@GarageDoorTrainingSchool Жыл бұрын
We offer a delayed payment plan which is 799 for the first payment and that will allow you to sign on and do half the course. In 30 days we will charge the balance of 700 which is the final payment and then release the 2nd half of the course to you at that time. I hope this helps. Thanks

@@MachineIfHey man just starting to look into this now.Did you buy his course? If so how has it gone for you?
@MachineIf9 ай бұрын
@@kevinarciba6714 I actually did not use this course, but maybe I can offer some advice as I jumped into this field with no experience whatsoever. The best thing to do is to find someone that will let you work for/alongside them. It’s probably the hardest step to take and will take a little digging. I worked for a gentleman for $700/wk for 3 months, and went off on my own and now make $150k+ for 2 years in a row installing as an independent contractor. I personally wouldn’t buy the course, but would call local garage door companies and ask if they would be willing to train you. You’ll learn the same things in a shorter amount of time, and most likely get paid to do so.
