I lived in eastern Tennessee (west Knoxville to be exact) for 27 years(basically my whole life). You won't regret moving there. The people are friendly and wholesome, the area is beautiful (although summers are awful), the cost of living is cheap and despite the generalizations people are very tolerant here. I've seen people drive around with Bernie bumper stickers and nobody says a thing, but go to California with a Trump bumper sticker and you're cars going to be set on fire, no really it has happened. Not only that but we treat minorities as equals rather than constantly treating them like infants and "trying to save them" from systemic racism. Race doesn't matter in the south, we're all just people while in the blue states race is the most important thing to the point of it being racism. We welcome anyone looking to escape the grip of tyrannical liberalism, as long as you don't bring your liberal beliefs with you.

I have paid all of my bills, gotten new furniture, and have even been working on my car, and I still have $600 in my account. All this before my first day of work here in SC. I feel happier, more financially secure, and I can finally start putting money away and save for retirement, and my future business, whereas in California, I was working 2 jobs, and living paycheck to paycheck. So sad that Oregon is constantly being described as being Blue, when it is only the upper NW corner of the state, which contains the 3 major Urban cities (Portland, Eugene, and Salem) when the rest of the state is Conservative. This is the reason "Greater Idaho" organization is attempting to move the state borders to encompass the other 2/3rds of Oregon, into being a part of conservative Idaho. Wish us luck!
@grantjohnson5785
@grantjohnson5785 4 жыл бұрын
Good luck, buddy... you'll need it. Pretty sure the Constitution makes that very difficult, in fact. Yep, here it is: "New States may be admitted by the Congress into this Union; but no new State shall be formed or erected within the Jurisdiction of any other State; nor any State be formed by the Junction of two or more States, or Parts of States, without the Consent of the Legislatures of the States concerned as well as of the Congress." In other words, you'd have to get the approval of the Oregon legislature AND Congress (I'll assume you already have the Idaho legislature on your side). Sorry, but no way are your DEM overlords going to want to give up their stranglehold over you.

The same is true of California where only Sacrament and the mid coast counties are leftist and have the most population but not the most actual real estate, that control the state. If the liberal Democrats, not the leftist but actual liberal Democrats, libertarians and moderates would get together with the Republicans and conservatives in California to vote against the progressive leftists, then the state could over turn the leftists policies and start to turn itself around. The only thing needed is to break thru the echo chamber of leftists lies and get people to learn the truth; the Democrat party no longer represents their ideology, they need to stop suppporting an voting for them.

@crow I've been a conservative stuck in California for a while. I moved here for employment reasons and then got stuck when the housing bubble crashed. By the end of the month, I'm moving to Idaho and I will take my conservative values with me and will finally be happy to be surrounded by others with the same values. Unfortunately, I don't think very many people leave their values behind. In fact, being in California, I've heard talk of people wanting to go to Texas for no other reason than to try to turn it blue and it disgusts me. I'm concerned about the reception I'll get in Idaho when I tell people I'm moving from California...I'm thinking maybe I'll need to invest in a maga hat or something so they know I'm not an infiltrator ;).

Milton Friedman once made an incontestable argument for capitalism against socialism. To paraphrase him, it doesn’t matter the intent of the system rather the results of socialism [the road to hell is paved with good intentions] and those results are the opposite of what was intended but brought naturally and almost unintentionally through capitalism. This argument relates to the mass exodus from blue states we have seen in recent times.

All of the big cities in Texas have been blue for awhile now. Houston, the capital of big red oil, has had Democrat mayors for 40 years. Those areas outside the cities and agricultural areas in west Texas have stayed red. The problem that is coming is just the growth of blue in already blue cities is outpacing the red in cities and rural areas. It seems inevitable that Texas will have at least one democrat senator in the next 10 years and is getting closer to voting blue in a presidential election. It’s not unprecedented for it as most of the south used to be democrat. However the rate this is changing back to blue and the reasons is concerning. The pandemic is just driving this faster as CA and NY aren’t able to function the same anymore and people and companies realize that they can work from anywhere. They don’t have to sit in offices in Los Angeles or New York City anymore and pay higher taxes and housing costs.

There was a drive-in theater 20 minutes or so outside of town, I could ride my bike anywhere I wanted... I didn’t really become Mormon but I learned to respect their culture and lifestyle a lot! I’d love to move to somewhere close to St. George, or maybe Moab or somewhere else in the southeast. I hope Utah keeps its steady pace and practical attitude. 🏜🏔

@@emily02432 "Red states pay less taxes" ofcourse, they want economic freedom. "red states are more conservative" no kidding? "people become more conservative because of fear" that's not true. democrats fear climate change and fear the covid pandemic. republicans don't fear both of them. "red states depend more on the government" that's not true, then why are businesses moving from blue states to red states then? red states is all about small government and being independent. "most people become racist and sexist out of fear because they feel threaten" so if I got threatened on the street by some random guy I suddenly become sexist and racist? what a dumb argument. For republicans it is all about individual strengths and weaknesses. For democrats it's all about looks and labeling people. They don't care about your merits. Yep and there's plenty of proof of Election Fraud in CA but it gets swept under the rug or ignored... I think everyone already knows why the Polls are what they are with China Joe supposedly way out in front of the President. It's of course an attempt to demoralize President Trump's supporters but they also have to justify the unprecedented levels of Voter Fraud we're about to see in this election and what will be the completely over the top number of Fraudulent votes/ballots that's going to create... Project Veritas's recent investigation just skims the surface of the Voter Fraud that has been being used across this Nation for Decades. kzbin.info/www/bejne/l2jQcnyvhtyLq8U kzbin.info/www/bejne/g4eaoHeibd53kM0 Commiefornia has even passed laws making some of it legal such as ballot harvesting. I mean come on folks do you really think that a state that was firmly red for decades suddenly flipped to blue and once it was flipped there's never been a blip in that control? I've been screaming about Voter Fraud, calling and writing Congressmen, Senators, Governors, Mayors, anyone and everyone I could think of to bring attention to this. The 2018 Midterms were a dry run for what they've already started doing in the 2020 election. The 2018 Midterms were the worst I've ever seen and it was so much worse than the level of fraud I saw in '16, which was pretty damned bad. Look at a few counties in CA. Let's take San Diego County for instance which in the '16 Presidential Election turned in 144% turn out of Legal Registered Voters. That means they counted 44% more Votes than were even Registered to Vote. Now look back to the '18 Midterms, look no further than the AZ Senate Race. The GOP had it by 50k votes or more according to the voter roles of those eligible to vote and number of ballots that had been counted on election night at close of the poles. Oh and let's not forget FOX calling it 2 hours before the polls even closed which is odd to say the least. Then around 2 weeks later while all eyes were on Florida for the blatant fraud they wanted seen, look at the right hand and ignore the left magic right. Low and behold all of a sudden enough Mail in Ballots on Pallets had shown up and that AZ Senate race was overturned because magically all or most of those votes broke in favor of the Dims. Now stretch that out over the rest of the Nation where on the close of election night '18 Midterms the GOP had lost a total of 7, that right 7 seats. Fast forward 2 week and all of as sudden the GOP was down a total of 47 Seats giving the Dims the Majority in the House. There are more and more cases of Voter Fraud being exposed all across the Nation as well as ballots being thrown away. People would have to be blind to not see what's been happening in this Nation for the better part of 70 years, all the way back to the LBJ Admin, or more and it's that Voter Fraud is alive and well and has only gotten much, much worse over time...

I wish there were more peaceful protests, but if the result of people trying to change things is leaving a few broken windows behind, I will live. Okay. Where do we even start with this video. I'm going to try to be as non-political as possible, so this comment is just to correct some of the errors in this video. 1:15. Florida, Arizona, Texas, and Georgia are closer to half and half, so I don't know why Moore is using these for some of the examples. 1:25. It's false that people are leaving "blue" states and going to "red" states. Here are the states that are gaining and losing the most population: Gaining: Utah, Nevada, Idaho, Florida, Washington, Oregon, Colorado, and Arizona. Note that there are two "red" states (Utah and Idaho), three "blue" states (Washington, Oregon, and Colorado), and three states in the middle (Arizona, Florida, and Nevada) on this list. Losing: West Virginia, Illinois, Vermont, Connecticut, Wyoming, Pennsylvania, Mississippi, and New York. Note that there are three "red" states (West Virginia, Wyoming, and Mississippi), four "blue" states (Illinois, Vermont, Connecticut, and New York), and one state in the middle (Pennsylvania) on this list. While there are slightly more "blue" states losing population, there are also slightly more gaining population. The population gains and losses roughly balance out among the two types of states. 1:30. Yes, but mostly rich New Yorkers going to upstate houses temporarily. I know lots of people who moved because of the pandemic, but all love NYC and are coming back as soon as it is over. 1:50. That is false. California has gained over 2 million, New York has gained around 200,000, and Illinois lost around 300,000. The "red" states fared better, with Texas gaining over 4 million, Florida gaining around 3 million, and Tennessee gaining around a half a million. Those three states are gaining population, but California and New York didn't lose population in the last 10 years either. Illinois is losing population, but not close to a million in the last 10 years. Many of these examples are misleading, if not false. The South as a whole is gaining population, not just the "red" states. This video fails to mention the "red" Rust Belt states that are losing population. 2:25. Nowhere in that report does it say anything about this. 3:00. Again, California is not losing population. 3:30. This is true, but people in cities are much more likely to be Democrats than Republicans overall. This comment is very misleading because yes, although most of the top 20 cities with the highest murders per capita are Democrat-run, Democrats run most cities, especially big ones. 4:00. Moore says this like it's bad, even though Seattle is just allowing people to exercise their right to assemble. 4:40. Yes, the "blue" states had a higher death count per capita, though only twice as high as the "red" states. And this was because Illinois, New Jersey, and New York had their worst waves earlier than anywhere else in the country, so people didn't really know how to treat the virus. Texas, Arizona, and Florida had guidelines on distancing measures and good treatments, yet they still had a high death rate per capita. PragerU's videos are more like propaganda than facts. Please watch a KZbin channel that tells the truth instead of this, for your own benefit. I'm not saying watch things that are tilted left, I'm just saying watch things that tell the truth.

Good comment, however I would like to point out that California is, in fact, losing more residents than it is gaining. People live better here on less money, than with higher salaries in California or Colorado. So keep talking about higher salaries as if that means Californians are rolling in that spare dough. Oh right it’s being sucked up by higher rents, higher mortgages, higher taxes. Speaking of Taxes, there’s NO INCOME TAX in Texas my man. I have some interesting calculations about red and blue states shown in the video: Blue states: avg. homicide rate( per 100,000): 4.67 avg. GDP per capita: $85,707 Red states: avg. homicide rate( per 100,000): 5.07 avg. GDP per capita: $61,739 so the blue states are safer and richer than the red states, and I've only used the six states explicitly chosen by PragerU as "good examples", that conveniently doesn't include the likes of New England and Deep South inclusion of which would tip the scales even more in favour of the blue states so why do people move to red states? because so many people want to live in blue states that they become overcrowded and housing prices skyrocket, and thanks to the whole sunbelt phenomena, southern (almost all red) states are affordable all of a sudden

This is how you "think for yourself": I'm wondering why PragerU picked "three of the largest blue states" and not "the three largest". The process of picking states for comparison is unclear and therefore leaves much room for manipulation. Why didn't they show the complete data there is? (Maybe because the picture wouldn't have been so clearcut then...?) Also their general argument doesn't add up. They are just claiming out of nowhere that people are moving into red states because these states "are better". So if we assume (despite lack of data) that there IS in fact a tendency of people moving from blue to red states, why couldn't the reason for this be that they are moving there, because their wages fell, their financial situation worsened, and they need to move to a cheaper place, bc they cannot afford the expensive blue states any more. PragerU said themselves that blue states are "more expensive" than red ones. And there you go, I turned PragerU's argument into sth entirely different, and my explanation is just as much backed up by facts as theirs. Apart from that the video is obviously a propaganda video. They cater to a divisive discourse by painting the situation as binary (blue vs red aka black vs white aka evil vs good etc.), which is obviously a gross oversimplification of any real life situation. The question they ask in the video title leaves no room for an answer like "There are pros and cons, so where someone lives a subjectively better life depends on the person". In other words there are strong implications made in the video title alone, which is an known strategy of brainwashing and manipulation. Regardless of the content of the video, its form is highly suspicious and anyone watching videos like this should double check if the facts and arguments add up, bc they prolly don't...

Sarah, you have some good points. The best point you made was your alternate point that also fits the facts. The only thing is, your alternate point was exactly the presenter's point, because you can't separate expensive from blue. Fennerex, property tax in TX is 80% higher than CA. CA property is 200% more expensive. So which has the higher property tax? More expensive: see earlier premise. But I agree, the information was communicated to make a strong point and didn't do a good job defending it.

First, it costs more to support each person in the city population than to support the average person in a rural/ small town population. Food production and natural resources are not found in cities. Most of the actual wealth is not contained in the large cities. It has reached a point where the political battle is between the large cities and the rest of the country.
@jhagestad
@jhagestad 4 жыл бұрын
And why do you think that is? I don’t disagree with you in spirit. But the high costs of food/support for people living in “big cities” is typically offset with higher wages for jobs located in those cities. Don’t think for one second that the iron worker in NYC isn’t getting paid way more than the one in Nashville (of course, the unions then come and take their required share so they can continue the funnel money to democrat leaders). But the rural towns don’t have everything at their fingertips either. There’s no utopia. Smaller towns run out of supplies faster than big cities with their Amazon distribution centers nearby. Unless you live on a farm that provides everything, you still stock your fridge at a grocery store that may be an hour from your house. As far as actual wealth is not contained in big cities - not sure what that means. If that’s true, why are residential condos selling for multi-millions of dollars in all the big cities? There’s no utopia - every place has pros and cons. What that said, I’ll choose less gov’t interference in my life every time - whatever that takes.

HipHipJorge ! I couldn’t agree with you more. You’re absolutely right. I, myself, was born and raised in Chicago, and I still live in a Chicago suburb today (although it’s Lake County which means I avoid all the Cook County nonsense, thank goodness). The things I love about Chicago/Illinois keep me here, and they, obviously, override the bad things..... for now. I avoid most of the bad things (higher taxes & crime potential) by living outside the city limits, but our state is no model to follow when it comes to governance and fiscal prudence. Without a doubt, my life experience has broadened a ton by living in and around Chicago most of my life. From the German culture in Lincoln Square, to Chinatown, Greek Village, Little Italy, and the Mexican culture in Pilsen, I’ve been exposed to all kinds of cultures I might not ever have experienced had I not liven in or around Chicago. However, I can’t sit around and pretend I don’t see our governor and Chicago’s mayor blatant hypocrisies - kowtowing to BLM/Antifa riot demands (police stand down, defund the police, etc.) all while they have the streets surrounding their own residences blocked off by police for their own safety. That angers me more than the online rambling of kooks, which I can happily ignore. But when real violence is allowed to continue while our leaders who allow it bhave no skin in the game, that’s enough.

HipHipJorge ! As a former resident of Utah; your assumption of being alienated from the first-generation American culture is completely wrong! Would there be as many of your particular “home-country” folks? Maybe not. But Hispanic people aren’t the ONLY first-generation people who celebrate their heritage, while assimilating in American Culture. At least that’s the case I saw in Utah.

I have lived in a blue state all my life and I have wanted to leave for the last twenty years but I have family here. Twenty years later, the entire family (grandparents, cousins, sisters, brothers, etc) all are planning on leaving. We can’t get out of California fast enough. We are conservatives that can’t take it anymore. I have a friend who is also conservative and she has often chided me that I need to stay in California but she called me last week to get information about my plan of action because they too are leaving.

A side effect of the pandemic, is employers are realizing most of their employees don't need to be in the office to be productive. In fact, people that work from home are generally MORE productive, because they spend commuting time working, are able to be flexible, deal with personal stuff that comes up, return to working without personal problems looming in the back of their heads. The time I used to spend on the train is spent working. I also hop on at night after kids are asleep and triage so that the next morning, I'm off running. I say this because it means employers in blue states can find talent anywhere, and the talent can live in red states if they want. And any mix in between.
