I am the 6th generation of a farming family. My brother and his kids and grandkids do the farming. I'm not too far from retirement from my "day job", I will go back there to help him until I'm too old to do so. I left the farm for 40+ years, but it never, ever leaves you. It's hard to explain to those that don't have that connection to the land and the way of life. God bless both of you. :)

You will see on a more recent Video , where they have a new cat called Pepper and it’s during one of Laura’s live chats , when they are conducting a poll on last meal of day if it is ‘Dinner or Supper’, and Grant goes to get one of Peppers week old kittens to show Viewers , but Pepper wouldn’t let him touch her Kittens ! Grant comes back empty handed . A minute later Pepper turns up too , and she is quite happy to sit on Laura’s lap until she sees Grant walking away . Now she jumps down and follows him , just to check he is not going back to her kittens ! Yet on a Video taken a few days earlier , Pepper is under house in a special bed Laura has put there for her , knowing Pepper was ready to have her kittens . On this Video , Laura reaches in to get one of these kittens to show her audience , and Pepper lets her touch one of her kittens , but comes out to check everything is ok . Cats are like that , and will bond with one human , and trust this Person more than anybody else !

Absolutely love the way you two have carefully mapped out your future. Farming and farmers are the backbone of this country. There would be no country without farming and the pioneers who settled the Midwest and the plains. The majority of the city people have no idea where their food comes from beyond the grocery store. Farming is no vacation. You both make it real to your viewers. I also follow your dad. The government has made it and making it terribly difficult to be in your business. It was government regulation and price regulations that drove my uncle out of the dairy business. He simply eked out a living amidst regulations and mega companies price fixing at levels that drove him and other family owned farms out. Stay well and think about reaching out to politicians with the truth of what DC is doing to your industry.

I enjoy watching you two going through the life of working a farm. I always thought farming could be the life, but as I got older, life got in the way. I found the love of my life and decided to marry her. To support a lifestyle we were used to, we went to work.. life was good to us. We had our knocks along the way, but we made it. We purchased a hone in 1991 where I still live alone. My wife died in 2023 from a long struggle with cancer. Living as a widower is not the life of Riley. God is the only reason I make it through each and every day. I tried to see women, but it never worked for me. I will not give up on looking. She is out there, and misses right will come along. I wish both of you a long, happy, and long life together. I have enjoyed all you have videoed and released. Wonderful, I can't thank you enough for the folsom entertainment. Again, thank you, and do not stop what you are doing together. Together is the only way.

Very interesting to see all this big equipment in such great shape. I'm in Vermont and we don't have that. My tractor was a 1952 Ford 8N, then all the rest of my equipment was from 1953 - John Deere 1010, John Deere 430 crawler, Air Force surplus Hough loader, Ford 4-yard dump truck, Ford stake body. You do have to learn to fix stuff when it is that old.

We only have a 1.7 million people here, but the farmers are a huge part of the economy of the state. Farms/Ranches are the backbone of the state. If you think it's fly-over country, fine. Just don't look down your noses when we say we're from Nebraska. We're damn proud of our farmers and ranchers and the food they put our our tables.

This has to be one of if not the best video's of you two together to date. Laura, you were so sweet, cute and happy in this one. Grant and you compliment each other. I envision or imagine what you two will be like in 20 years still doing this work. Work? Not sure that's the right thing to call it. You make it sound like fun. But as someone older that has wore themselves out, Laura, stop putting those heavy bags on your shoulders and carrying them around. It will take a toll in time and your frame and weight can not be suited for it. Just being honest. You are the hardest working gal I've ever seen particularly for the work you do and the pace you do it at. Nuf said!

Good decision on ropes vs chains! Back in the early 70s my cousin in North Dakota was helping her dad pull out a stuck tractor with a chain. She was on a tractor without a cab and the chain broke and swung back and hit her on the side of her head. Thankfully, she just broke a tooth and was knocked unconscious, but didn’t sustain any long term damage.

I used to work in NYC in a office building. I thought I would never want to work on a farm. It seemed unappealing. I prefer the A/C office I was in and did not want to be on a hot farm. Then I moved to PA and saw a lot of farms. I now have an outside job and can't imagine ever going back to a job working in a cubicle and not having fresh air and freedom. Laura, you have such a beautiful smile that just brightens our day. I know your putting on a happy face for the videos and Im sure your tired and have bad days like everyone else. What is the most insightful thing about your videos is your teaching many people what it is like working on a farm. We need more farmers. Farmers by me, some of them are selling their land or trying to as they are not making enough money. Many diary farmers don't make enough money and are struggling. I hope our country continues to support farmers and the government continues to support you and not allow anymore Chinese (who are connected to the China government) to buy our farms. I'm sure you don't want your channel getting political but we need to be aware of what is starting to happen in our country. Thank you for your videos, and I pray God blesses you, your marriage and your farming.

Grant and Laura, what a wonderful explanation you have given on land stewardship. No matter what size your farm, if you have never worked land, it's hard to understand what that word means. Our family farm was started in 1906 and now our son is running it. Our grandson it's already helping even though he is only 10 years old. He will be 5th generation. I also understand your comment regarding newly turned Spring soil. That is my favorite smell! You will be very successful with your new venture and yes I am sure your grandchildren Will be running that tractor. The tractor I bought for our farm in 1995 Will be run this summer buy our grandson. Good job guys!

It's sad but here on the east coast, farms only survive maybe 2 or 3 generations then get sold to a developer or for a school, I worked on a couple of farms while in school certainly not for the meek or a little lazy people. I seen at least 8 to 10 farms disappear to developers, most were only 250 acres or less, but still niceties see.

I worked on my Brother farm for 12 years in Oklahoma! When I pulled people out, mostly stuck on the dirt roads! I would tell him to put their vehicle in neutral. But you always had then ones that thought they better than you did. They would Gun their vehicle, and as soon as they was out, they would almost hit the tractor. One time about 1 in the morning, I went to pull someone out, had the hay fork on and he backed his pickup in to the back of the tractor, he had two nice holes through his tailgate!

Laura's face lit up after her Dad's truck pull. A very close farming family. Wonder if there's worries about chemical spills from train derailment in her area. Seems like an epidemic of train issues all of a sudden.

I enjoy seeing all the modern equipment and your explanations of how it works. I have one concern however and that is your oil checking method. Modern engine oil products are engineered to adhere to metal surfaces, at all temperatures, including the oil dipstick. For an accurate oil check I was taught to pull the dipstick, wipe off the oil with a shop cloth, reinsert it, and pull it again and always before starting the engine for the day. Keep up the excellent, informative, videos.
