Now that gives a little perspective of how big those turbines really are! To bad it was cloudy! I would love to see the blades & view from that height!

Great Video Liz! Next time do it on a clear day, it will be much more exciting to see! To all you wind haters out there: Wind provides a new source of competition for oil and gas, and coal generated electric plants. They do not like competition so they bash wind(the new kid on the block). Competition is what makes America Great. All sources of energy are heavily subsidized in the U.S. You only hear about wind. Windmills are getting better, and better everyday just like all new technologies. The great thing about wind is it blows everyday in West Texas where I am at. Even on still days on the ground 300 ft. up it is blowing all the time and it is FREE POWER! Go Oil, GAS, COAL, and Wind. Use it all and stop sending our $$ overseas to people who don't like us! THANKS and have a good Day!

The term "free wind" applies, not to these megaturbines, but to homeowners who install a smaller turbine on their property. Excepting solar panels, a turbine is the only way a homeowner can generate their own power, and the funds not paid to a power company pay back the purchase price. Some users can even feed into the grid and get a credit instead of a bill. This idea isn't useable everywhere, of course - it's best in rural areas, as buildings make turbulence that lowers efficiency.

Free? Wind? Those things are expensive, last I heard there wasn't a single one in existence that hadn't been subsidized or put in place without mandatory federal or state regulation. Take away subsidies and mandates and I doubt there would be a single turbine running. Tell this to the people of Cape Cod Piece. Tell that to the late Ed Kennedy, tell that to the bird freaks. What about the steel, fibre glass, concrete and plastic (oil/gas) used to manufacture said behemoth?

Got a better relatively-clean idea? And please don't say, "Today's clean coal" like the coal-industry TV spots.
