Daniel Boone's gravesite in Frankfort is the number one tourist attraction in the Kentucky's state capital-but is Daniel Boone really buried there?
Here's the backstory: Daniel Boone wasn't born in Kentucky, and he didn't die here, but we still regard him as our favorite son. He was held in such high regard that 25 years after his death in Missouri in 1820, Kentuckians brought his bones, and those of his wife, Rebecca, back to Kentucky. The bones were reburied at Frankfort Cemetery on a scenic spot overlooking the Kentucky River. A granite monument was erected.
The Friends of Daniel Boone's Burial Site in Marthasville, Missouri, aren't so sure the pioneer was lain to rest in Kentucky, and the controversy has simmered for years. Much has been disputed: Did Daniel's son Nathan really give permission for the bones to be disinterred? Was the proper grave dug up? If so, were all of the bones removed?
Some say that back in Missouri, Daniel was originally buried at Rebecca's feet, so the bones next to her weren't Daniel's. Over the years, researchers have pored over old records trying to solve the mystery. The skull buried in the Frankfort grave has even been exhumed and examined, but results were inconclusive.
Finally, some say that not all of Daniel's bones were moved to Frankfort. In fact, some Missouri historians say their research shows that only the larger bones were taken by the Kentucky delegation-which would mean that Daniel Boone has two graves.

My ancestors were guided from Scott County, KY to Pike County, MO by a son of Daniel Boon in around 1821.

A historian I read recently, pointed out that something like 30 friends and relatives were present when they exhumed the bodies and actually helped the grave diggers by pointing out were Daniel and Rebecca were buried. And that rumors of them getting the wrong remains begun only years later. He felt it was unlikely the family members would trick the grave diggers instead of just stopping them if they wanted his remains to stay in Missouri. But as others here have said, only a DNA test will put the matter to rest.

Being accused of treason after he saved dozens of lives, didn’t help things. That was another reason he left Kentucky.

Similar fate happened to Buffalo Bill(William Cody). He lived his golden years on his ranch in North Platt , Nebraska and declared this will be where he'd be buried , but Denver , Colorado has him . His wife gave in to temptation of the mighty dollar .

My family hired Daniel Boone . My family started the Transylvania company......also worked alongside him to build Boonesborough.

One of my ancestors, Richard Callaway, was one of the original founders of Boonesborough, along with Daniel Boone.

Daniel Boone is still in Marthaville Missouri! Kentucky came to take him back to Kentucky. They took the wrong Grave. On his death bed a slave said they took the wrong one. Kentucky did not deserve him. That's why he lived in Missouri!. Fact! Rebecca is there as well!. Kentucky took everything he Loved his Land!. Missouri!

Get legal permission to exhume the remains and find out thru DNA or whatever. Can't be done?

Why don't we try to stretch the truth as far as we can. It was 138 years later someone brought bones to Kentucky.

My relative Jeremiah McPeters was killed at otter creek Kentucky beside his cousin Thomas McDowell they were ambushed by Indians and scalped . There is a letter Daniel Boone wrote telling of this . Thomas mcdowell is Jeremiah's cousin according to my ancestry so it makes since they were together when they died . The letter didn't mention that they were cousins only what happened.

why is his grave and severalfamily memebers down by fort booneboro in Winchester ky I know this because I have seen them they are by the bath house by the river there or atleast that's what they say

I think what you're referring to is a monument with the original founders of Boonsborough engraved on it, on the original site of the fort. I don't recall a bath house anywhere near, unless it's near the replica fort some distance away.
