Greek philosophy didn't change the truth, but changed the nature of the truth for the church. Purity of truth, not fullness of truth. This purist reductionism and then dialectics led to fragmentation. Yet Paul calls us to get fullness of God and to stay away from clever schemes and philosophies. I would quibble regarding flesh and spiritual disciplines. To Corinthians he says "I beat my body", and that's because they had rampant fleshly issues. To Thessalonians he says quite differently regarding Jewish restrictive practices. Everything in its right time and for the right purpose, and to God be the glory. Great podcast, Thank You!.

Thanks Brad, glad you're enjoying our content! As far as the "according to the scriptures" of 1 Cor 15, we would agree with scholars such as N.T. Wright who say that "the scriptures" refers to the whole storyline of the OT, not necessarily specific verses. We've tried to explain in general why "Christ died for our sins" within our series "Why Did Jesus Die?".
