This is from the part where ArMo was ordered to move out of the Forbidden City immediately by the High Consorts and chased out of the Forbidden City by Pu Yi's servant, Chang and Pu-Yi then ran off to her to find her gone and his mother told him that he was too old for a wet nurse and that it's not healthy and he said, "But, she is not just my wet nurse. She is my butterfly." and ArMo cried as she was taken away and Pu Yi started running after her until the gates closed.

Such a beautiful and moving track from an amazing score and a masterpiece of a film. This song comes from the most heartbreaking scene in the entire film, when Puyi is told that he is no longer the emperor of China, and realizes that he has been lied to and that his purpose in life is nothing more than a façade. And if that's not enough, Armo, his wet nurse and only person he truly loves and trusts, is suddenly expelled from the Forbidden City in the same scene. Gets to me every time!

What I have to say about Pu Yi's wet nurse, Ar Mo who was the only person he truly loved and trusted suddenly getting expelled from the Forbidden City is that they should have done that a long time ago. She needed to go and he was too old for a wet nurse.

1:38 is the melody played when his nurse is taken away, and again when the empress is banished to a mental institution. It is, I think the theme of realizing true love - right before losing it forever.

Actually heard this piece of music as the opening for one of Janet Jackson's live performance of "If" and I thought what an Amazing piece of music. I saw research on the Last Emperor of China. It was truly a sad time in history.

this rythm showed up every time Pu-Yi lost someone. When he lost his original family, when Armo is taken away, when his divorced wife went through the front gate. What I saw in this movie, is a man who was continuously deprived his cherished person, freedom, and power. The only thing he gained was a peaceful life at the end of the movie. In history, he led a peaceful citizen life for sometime indeed, however, during the last year of his life, he incurred bitterness due to the outrage of cultural revolution.
