I lived in the Keys for decades and went through some storms, including Andrew. Wilma struck in October and was the strongest Atlantic storm ever. It passed North of the Keys and we got very little wind, then the sea began to rise. The water reach 4 feet deep on quite a few of the Middle Keys. Thousands had their cars, rugs, walls, couches, refrigerators, etc. destroyed. There were massive mountains of trash piled on empty properties for months as the trash was systematically hauled to the mainland.

I'm ready for hurricane season to be over. We were lucky this year. They said we were going to have all these major and minor hurricanes and it didn't happen. The models are all over the place and it hasn't even developed into a tropical storm yet. We've been watching for this over a week now. I called my son a week ago because the weather YT channels were blowing up over this, and here we are a week later, still waiting. They can make all the predictions they want, but it doesn't mean much until we actually see something that looks like a circulation. My opinion only. Get your gas, your batteries, your candles and whatever else you need now. Most people already have these stockpiled, but every time we go through this the shelves get stripped of everything, like no one has any preps already. Weird.
@SamuelCulper-h6sАй бұрын
Remember 2020? Storms hit thru Dec! I think YT has educational channels, too. You may want to start with those.

@joeg4707Ай бұрын
Intensity forecasting is riddled with uncertainty and can be error-prone. Let's see what happens. It's not even a depression yet, and you're at a 4 or 5. There's no distinct center of circulation yet.

all the experts seem to be saying the same thing. They say it is going to hit the panhandle or big bend area. The high pressure across the south east makes me think it will force the storm a bit further east impacting more like tampa bay to ft myers. I am not an expert, just a long time Florida resident.
